Delete the file custom.hpk from your CS (or is it HL) folder. If this doesnt help, then try a re-install.

If you dont want to re-install, then look to your actuall connection. Is it running okay? What else do you have running when you play CS? Close other things that use the internet. If you are using a game browser, set it to stop scanning servers on connect.

used to have that problem with CS. Never really fixed it, it just stopped happening after a few OS/HL reinstalls (not that I'm suggesting that).

There is a way of fixing it out there somewhere, I know it exists because I've seen it since I had the same problem. Sorry I can't point you in the right direction, it is a common prob tho you should be able to find something somewhere.

Strangely enough Scooby, I got this very thing when connecting to Barrysworld tonight. Although retry did work, in the end I came out of the game turned of my net conncetion then started from scratch :(
