Had lotsa sparetime in past few days due of internet connection problems so I started to rearrange things in drawers/shelfs and bumped into game were I was addicted be4 DaoC.

Was kinda year 1994-1996 when I played mtg a lot be4 leaving to army.
Old school magic: dual lands, manadrains, moxes, power9 :)
Good old type1.

After army I took a break from it, but in year 2000-2001 I played a alot again, was time of urza's block and invasion...

Now I started wondering should I start playing again... :)

p.s found few my old t1 deck:
Control deck whit 2 x Serra angel for win
And combo deck: heureka, lich, mirror universe...

Have 7 from power9 left, missing lotus + walk.
But I'm not planning to sell them I'm sure if I get kids someday they'll have lotsa fun whit game.

Afterall it's freaking nice to plan new decks when you have mixture from old cards from antiquties, AN, Legends and from new sets.

hehe i remember those old Goblin decks, with alot of bolts and small annoying goblins. And dont talk about the Gorilla Shamans who ate up my mox all the time :(

Alson remember when a old friend of mine won SM (Lincon) with his Merfolk deck. He kicked all the of those "freaks" in type 1 (classic)

IMO 4:th edition was the coolest, i remember the PC-game where u could start out at different levels choosing to play one color or 2,3 or even 4. I played the game on all different levels and killed the main boss (don't remember his name). I had something like 4-5 decks to choose from when i entered a cave so i could stand a fair chance to clear the whole cave without loosing a single fight.

Tried the cardgame a few times later on but then it was like 7:th edition cards to choose from but lucky me he had some 4:th edition too, i made me a deck of black/green mostly consisting of 4:th ed. and whooped his ass 5 times in a row then he didn't want to play against me anymore.

Would like to get my hands on a bunch of cards someday but there aren't many i could play with thou. Anyway an excellent cardgame indeed I only wish i had discovered it way earlier.

omg long long time ago :) i started and got instantly addicted just about when 4th editition was released.

my favorite was the seafolk deck (blue weenie with lords and this land enchantment which gives blue creatures camo-unblockable-thingy...dont remember the name...) and of course my turbo-stasis deck with howling mines, a lot of counterspells, chronatogs and kismet etc.

stopped playing when 80% of my cards where dragged out of the standard II tournaments, i spend too much money in it anyway :)

Ahh the good old days of sinkholes, ghouls and plague rats...

back before they invented balanced rules ;)

I'd recommend selling the ancient rare cards and buying your kids a fairer version of the game :) (rather than one that degenerates into a small number of cards - e.g. sinkholes+plague rats, that's all ye need, or lightningbolts + goblins + mountains)

My friends and I had been playing thinking you were only allowed 40 cards in a deck - i.e. not allowed any more (rather than minimum 40 as it should have been) but fortunately 40 cards was the optimum :) at least for a sick deck like the black death or the red death...

I remember visiting a card game shop and playing someone (this was where I realised you were actually allowed any number of cards according to the rules ;)). Was a three-way game just for fun, they both had 80+ cards in their deck, and died within 5 rounds.

(black lotus + 3 mountains + gauntlet of might + shivan dragon + two headed giant in the starting hand... gotta hurt)

Jyhad was a far better game overall though :) far more evil - what you did and how you played had a lot more involvement than simple deck-creation (although that was important too of course)

oooh Jyhad

I have a Malkavian (who'd a guessed) homoncolus/madness network/vote deck
its uterly useless in one on one but beats everything in multiplayer :) and its so anoying nobody wants to play against it :)

Yup Yup

Was also a hardcore player from 4th edition until Mercadian Masques, where I lost interest big time and was tired of spending all teh cash... until recently where I discovered the online game and started playing (and paying, this time for virtual cards, how dumb am I ? :) again. Wizards did an UBER fuckup upgrading to version 2.0 recently (server non-availability/crashes for more then THREE weeks), but they seem to be on top again, and will surely review their testprocedures before they pull off another stunt like that :)

Anyway, more info on www.wizards.com/mtgonline

A good FAQ about the online game available on:

www.waldmeister.net

I can advice it to anyone who loves a tactical game involving the RPG 'magic' elements most of us adore, albeit a bit of an expensive one :/ To keep the spending on a normal level I only compete in leagues (limited deck construction) and boosterdrafts, which i always preferred anyway...

You can try it for free with a few easy preconstructed decks btw.

Nerve.

Feel free to contact me ingame over there, screenname is also 'Nerve'.

The old days were still the best and Arabian Nights rocked all the way. I would like to buy the BIG 9 for 20P if anyone has them, lol
This was and maybe is still one of the best cardgames in the World.
Loved my blue stasis control deck!

Eeeep..

Was addicted to MTG for several years, but quit the game when the madness off it all struck me, figured out that the 2 cardboxes full of cards I had cost me an insane amount of cash (one or two boosted packs each day, hooked on the getting rare's feeling ;))

still regret selling my cards to this day, really want to teach some of the punks on the local coffee shop a lesson in old style! ;)

Played SW:CCG after MTG and still have the complete lim.etd. black border launch series somewhere :)

no point to Jyhad with less than 4 players :)

The whole predator/prey thing made it so much more amusing - begging the person sitting opposite to attack more so that you can survive a round (but they don't want you to quite kill your prey because then you're stronger and all of a sudden _their_ prey)

Ahh great game :)

(Usually played a toreador machinegun-deck, annoying when someone plays a gangrel destroy-the-guns deck though ;))

I liked my ventrue "vote everyone to death" deck, but it wasn't very good with less than 6 players.

lol :D I remember that everybody used to arrange his cards like 10 centimeters away from the next one in order to minimize Chaos Orb casualties. :)

I used to play MTG on local tournaments for quite some time. Still got all my cards dusting away in a couple of boxes somewhere.
I quit playing after the 5th Edition rules changes (Mana-Elves paying for their own Giant Growth during attack and still dealing damage.. yay!) and after they kicked my all time favourite card out of the cycle.. Stasis.

Some pretty interesting decks in the Mirage cycle, Cad Bloom, 5 Colour Blue etc. but best environment for T2 imo was definitely Urza´s Legacy with Living Death, Counterphoenix and NeoNecro.

Btw.. funny to see a company like WotC releasing cards like Tolarian Academy or Time Spiral after so many years of game experience. And you think DaoC is unbalanced? ;)
