Isn't the usual visit to scotland, any part of scotland, like this;
You get on the plane to scots, you get a drink.
WHEN there's turbulence(and since the pilot is dhrunk anyway), you get a drink.(thanks roo)
When you lnad, a drink.
When you get your baghs*hic* from the line, there's a dhrink rolling with them.
You gte a chap, the cahbby is druhnk to*hic* boot, and gives you a drunk.
You arrive at the hotel....i forget..*hic*
Ju henter the hotel and the belhlboy givesh you a dhrink.
Get to recheption, drinhk*hic* is given to you wi*hic*...with the key.
Well you get the point

The Liquid Rooms are not bad - just off the Grassmarket, which is traditionally the stag and hen do capital of Edinburgh.
To be honest Edinburgh centre is so small that you can stay anywhere and be able to walk to your destination (a few hills in the way of course) but if you want to stay real close then there is an Apex Hotel on the Grassmarket.
Have fun, Edinburgh is a cracking city.

The Liquid Rooms is a long standing, intimate and hot venue located in Victoria Street. The Liquid Room - Club and Live Music Venue, Edinburgh, Scotland It has two levels and you get a fantastic view of the stage from the middle of the upper level.
The top of Victoria Street is about half between the Castle approach and Greyfriars Church just around the corner from Edinburgh city library.
The bottom of Victoria Street is The Grassmarket where there are a few funky shops, lots of bars, cafes and a couple of hotels.
If you're coming by train the venue's about a 20 minute walk from Waverly Station. Be warned, about 75% of that walk will be up hill. Up a STEEP hill.
If you're driving, the city center has very limited parking. The nearest car park would be at the rear of the Teviot (pronounced Teeviot) at Bristo Square. The Teviot is a university bar and Festival venue.
There's 3 park and ride areas on the outskirts with loads of buses to the city center. No idea of the opening times though, sorry.
As far as accommodation goes, there's squillions of places to choose from except at Festival time in August when it's unlikely you'll find anywhere.
There are a couple of chain hotels in the High Street, not far from the venue but they're around £70 - £100 per night. Tons of B&Bs scattered around the city and also much cheaper hotels.
No matter where you stay there's likely to be a bus service within a couple of minutes walk. Edinburgh has one of the best bus services in the country.
The high Street is also full of bars, cafes and restaurants. I can recommend The Filling Station for excellent food. Also, on the George IV Bridge is Frankenstein's. My favourite place to take people who come to stay.
