Any other tailors around near master or grandmaster level? I think Snoz got to 800 before he quit (booo) and I don't know of any other high spec tailors other than gro (almost 800, also quit boooo)

If there are any do you actually get any orders? I had 5 orders on sunday which were the first ones I've had in like 6 weeks. Even armour crafters don't want the goods crafted for em - I always thought armour crafters could use tailored items for better results with their armour? guess not

Dillyana of 'Amazons of Midgard' is past 900 I think ... maybe even closer to 999 by now.

I'm Senior Tailor currently. Not crafting real much, hour or two per day.

I haven't been getting orders as much as I'd like either. It'd be nice to craft armor for casters / shadowbladers or other crafters.
Once during my whole career has armorer ordered leather from me to make chainmail. I've been even trying to sell swordhilts to weaponcrafters so that they wouldn't need to spend time on making them but could go on with making weapons (when training).

Today has been good though, I got whole two orders. I made one set of cured starklaedar and I have order for embossed starklaedar as well.

I for one don't mind crafting low level stuff either. I think the problem is mostly that new players don't know that they could get armors from crafters for a lower price and better quality than from merchants or if they are alts, they have so much money transferred to them that they don't bother with it and buy purple armor from merchants.

I think the new option that allows you to show your trade in /who listing will help once people start using it. Then they can do /who tailor and ask for armors there.

By the way Azal - over fifty percent mark up on your tailored pieces seems a little excessive - are you checking if there are still other tailors around so you can push this to 100 percent mark up on cost ???

I cant see why anyone who could afford your prices would buy anything as a lot of the dropped armor is better and people give it away for free :)

rynnor I charge people based on what they can afford to pay most people offer a price they are happy to pay and I go with that, if someone won't meet a price I ask for then I go lower. If someone isn't willing to barter some then that's not my problem, if people don't want to spend 2 minutes checking prices out themselves then they are going to pay more. Deal with it.

Dropped armour 30+ is better yes (which is precisely why when someone 27-28+ asks me if I can make armour for them I tell them they are better off getting spind drops instead) but until then it's not. And mine is cheaper than merchant bought armour, and better quality. So maybe you want to rethink what you said a little and try again ?

You do know that making a full set gets a higher markup than single pieces due to the material waste of having to buy more than you need and needing to remake peices a few times to get a decent quality for the whole set right?
Oh you didn't know about remaking pieces and using far more than what the base ingrediants it takes to make each piece, now you do.

That's why it's a higher markup. If I make single pieces for people I normally make it for free, and friends mostly get free sets too. In fact anyone under 20 normally gets free sets too because I feel like it.

You don't like how I do my crafting? don't buy it.

Well it might do actually... there is a stgrong possibility that with those on my Dear Lady Lunar simple wouldn't let me out of the DarkShadow Chambers in Camelot at all, hence keeping me safe from such events.

Heck, even in this leather it can be hard to get past the door sometimes.... it's the moves, m'Lady loves the moves ;)

Oops - damn quote - forgot my bit at the bottom - apologies to Azal for chopping off the top bit.

But, 1 - I was level 34 when asked but dont remember a response to get drops they are better???

I can tailor all the sub 30 pieces myself :) Quality is variable between 90 and 100 - but yes this is better than 85 percent shop bought stuff tho at a mark up of 50+ percent it sure isnt cheaper :)

Fraid I do know about remaking for quality - must have taken me approx 80 attempts to create a masterpiece 100 percent quality piece :(

And yup - I didnt buy :)

However this all gets pretty academic when Darkness Falls comes out and destroys the crafted market except for lazy twinks :)

I'd like you to show me the merchant selling anything above mithril and corresponding leather stuff. Crafting is a bloody sucker job and it's well worth paying good money for crafted goods. If you can not see that, then don't buy. 50% markup may seem high, but if he guarantees a certain quality without remake-cost then it's pretty fair. You have to allow crafters to actually make a little bit of money out of their business (which goes straight back into funding the business further).

Sorry if I bark in here, but discussing markups I don't like. Bargain with the man, try to get it cheaper, talk, or leave it. But crafters are not there just to whip up some neat 100% quality stuff when you ask for it and then deliver it to the entrance of the dungeon you are currently in, take no gold for it and say "thank you very much for buying my stuff".

<trods off and realizes he really needed to get that off his chest once>

Well im currently at 795 tailoring which is close to master i guess. I'll be over that as soon as i can start playing active again, which should be when i get back home from the us in a week or so.

If there's any armour crafter out there that would want to team up with me it would be appricated. Would certainly lower my costs :)

Hehe - Hendrick - this was one piece not a suit - at more than fifty percent mark up and no guarantee of quality - if he sold for a bit less he might actually sell a few more pieces??? No doubt - as you say - I should have haggled I was just a bit taken aback at the time - I mostly craft for free or at cost :)

I think the real reason Azal gets so little trade is probably our ageing server population - a lot of the good crafted items just circulate as people level up - plus there really arent that many people on Mid/Pryd :(

I do respect the effort Azal has put in to reach the dizzy heights of tailoring though - the amount of time spent watching that crafting bar fill up must have been frightening - whats your /played now Azal?

I dont think people take up crafting to make money though - it would be easier and quicker to go kill stuff plus you'd get drops and xp too?

Armour crafting is just another money sink as it stands - if we ever get spellcrafting demand will go up - especially for 99/100 percent quality pieces as these can hold a lot more bonuses.

Who knows we may even get the patch that lets you get to 1000+ skill one day :)

People take up crafting because they think it is cool to make their own stuff. Then they train to 200 skill and realise that it takes awfully long to actually be able to make something you can use. Then they discover crafting-tasks and think "hey, I can make at least a little money with this". Then they work to 500 and give up because it sucks and it's enough being able to make siege-weapons.
The few ones who push further are
– stubborn
– insane
– have no social life
– like to read books in front of the PC
– have a TV close by
– are very nice and helpful people working their arse off for the realm
– think they might as well go the whole way

Go crafters!
