good god lol thought everyone had heard of these guys, only had 2 of their albums but really love that song starts with something about son and heir (or sun and air) and some of his lyrics are classic, one from a song (again i dont know name of song lol) but it goes "I want to bludgeon you in your bed, i want to mash every tooth in your head" takes a special kind of mind to make a song with the word bludgeon in it

My favourite Smiths album is 'The queen Is dead', it contains in my opinion the worlds most perfect pop song 'There is a light that never goes out' although their self-titled debut isn't really that far behind. But when you speak of it 'Strangeways' and 'Meat is murder' is awesome aswell, as their b-sides on 'Louder than bombs' (probably heard that one the most).

I can't really say I like Morrisseys solo work really that much as I like the Smiths but if I had to chose from his albums I think that Vauxhall and I is the best album, 'Why don't you find out for yourself' and 'Speedway' are so nice. And ofcourse Viva Hate is also really good.

I have been really lucky and had the chance to see Morrissey live two times and both concerts were really awesome ofcourse.

"When I said by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed" and "Sweetness, sweetness I was only joking when I said I'd like to smash every tooth In your head" is from The Smiths song 'Bigmouth strikes again' and "I am the son and the heir" is from 'How soon is now?'

Hatful of Hollow is a compilation though. But the 'This charming man' version on it rocks, I recommend to get the 12" single for 'This charming man' with seven different versions.

If your counting 'proper albums' I'd have to say The Queen is Dead is definately the best one they did. Most of my favourite songs are on Hatful of Hollow though. Reel Around the Fountain especially - brilliantly dirty song when you sit and listen to it :D

Anyone got a complete Smiths discography (and I mean complete like with different versions of singles that atleast 'There is a light...' and 'This charming man' has)?

My fave Smiths album is The Smiths, their debut. Blew me away when I first heard it, and still does to this day. The Queen Is Dead is probably their best album though. Viva Hate is Morisseys best, altho his new album is very good stuff.

I'd also have to say The Queen is dead and faverite track is Cemetry gates from that album like most of his solo work also You are the quarry being my fave atm would have to say though dont think there is a bad album by the smiths and listen to them all frequently.

The smiths come third in my all time fav bands though pink floyd/roger waters being #1 and new order being #2.

Nice to see some people have decent taste in music :D

you are the quarry best solo album, his older solo stuff is very dirgy, even by his standards. Best Smiths album has to be Strangeways here we come.
