I have taken a few weeks break from the game but am thinking of playing it again tonight. At the moment i am on the black ops mission where you have to blow up the tanks.

I have only managed to get to the tanks once, where i accidently blew myself up with one of the pipe bombs.... i hear you say use the timer Doh!!

What is the best way to go about this one? I have heard you can get in one of the tanks as the gunner and then wipe everything out that way.

I was thinking kill those three people at the start and then go left so that you can come round behind the tank from the other side.

Another thing, how far am i from the end of the game.

Cheers ppl

I reckon this is one of the hardest missions (but you're a long way from the end!)

You can get into an empty T80 in the right-hand base but I've never managed to make it out alive.

I got through this one (eventually) simply by being prone almost all the time, crawling from cover to cover, and timing dashes (if you can call them that) while enemy backs were turned.

The nearest Shilka is easy enough and I stayed right back and sent one of men in there (prone) to plant a satchel charge and take out the two nearby men).

The right-hand base is harder, but it's a case of crawling to the north entrance, wait until the guards walk past, crawl out, plant a charge and crawl away using cover.

The last one is a little harder. I crawled along the line of the southern base wall (which is covered in bushes). Half way along there's a small gap in the wall which you can crawl through into the base. Now head for the exit. There's a line of bushes which reaches almost to the Shilka, but not quite. The tricky part here is crawling into the open without being seen. Trial and error, I'm afraid. Plant another charge and then crawl back the way you came.

Hope this helps.

Yeah i mean the one where you start at the top of the cliff face. In the end i sped up the game and tried to run all the way around to avoid everyone...

LOL........ i ran so far i failed the mission.

Dammit! I gave you long, rambling advice on the wrong f'ing mission! You'll need that eventually though, and you have even longer than I thought to complete the campaign. Lucky you.

This mission is relatively straight-forward in that you have clear objectives all close by. It's just a case of clearing a path (discreetly) and not getting killed. (Well, duh...)

I completed this one by taking out the small group of peeps immediately below the cliff face. Walk down, hide the bodies (to buy some time later on) and camp for a bit. A soldier will appear from the bushes to the right but you should be able to take him out before he notices anything is wrong.

Move to the edge and below you you should be able to see two soldiers by a tree to the left, about 100m. Two or three beneath you, and a machine gunner to the right, near the tank, about 50m.

Basically, take everybody out in the immediate area. When it's clear crawl down and cross the road. It's an easy task sneaking up the T80 as it doesn't move. Just make sure there's no-one else around and watch out for the second T80 on patrol. It seems you only need to destroy one tank to complete the onjective, so place a satchel charge under the stationery tank and crawl away.

By this time, some enemy soldiers will have converged on the lower ledge, where you've just been. If you've hidden the bodies they'll be at ease. You can crawl back up to the ledge and pick them off, but you'll need to be quick. Avoid the temptation to board the fixed machine gun. Not sure if you actually need to kill these people to get home, but one of them is a sniper who'd be able to take you down without a problem as you run back to base.

Your path to friendly territory to the north should now be clear (keep and eye out, though) so detonate those charges and run like a bastid.

As a side-note you get the option to use an M21 rather than the default silenced weapon. It's noiser, so the enemy will be alerted to your presence earlier, but the sniper sight makes it easier to take out enemies from farther away.

Hope that helps. I'm off to rest my typing fingers in a bowl of warm water.

I found this mission easy peasy, what I did was crawled through the undergrowth near the base and killed some men..I nicked a RPG and you know that 3 tanks that are in a row...there are some bushes next to one of the tanks. I went to those bushes, destroyed a BMP with my RPG then got in one of the tanks and drove away
