Any good encoding progs around?

That are for free? I've been messing around with fraps, and, cough, really need some good encoding programs to compress the video files into mpeg2, or perhaps mpeg4.. if there's no good programs around for free, that can encode, which of those you have to pay for would you recommend?

VirtualDub is free and very easy to use, you can also with ease cut scenes etc and I have heard rumors it is able to edit with effect too... but never found those functions myself so downloaded WMM2, roxor xD

Dr Divx is a encoder not video editing software, i use Adobe Premiere Pro for that

Tbh, I like the WMV9 encoder in Adobe Premiere Pro... With some fooling around, 2000Kbit/s is a nice speed for good quality / size trade-off... Sometimes have to fool around with it a bit to remove artifacts, but a lot of times its fine... Personally find it better quality then divx...
