Any chance of getting a couple of HPB server please Barry?

Lo all
As I was a HPW for a a very long time (have been a LPB for about 2 months) I know what its like. What ever con you got its no good if its not set up right or your isp is shit.

When I first started playing CS I blamed everything for my poor scores ping, lag, fps and having a shit pc. But I soon learned that 99% of my shit scores were down to the lack of skill on my behalf.

After playing with my configs and watching lots of good players I started to move up the score board. As a HPW I soon was doing very well and never looked at any pings when they killed me just thought how will I kill them next game , where will I wait, what gun would be best.

More important than ping is having a stable connection.
Packet loss is a killer not your ping.
Every so often stop and let your connection catch up, when you reload hide somewhere and let your con settle down.
If you get every thing tuned right and packet loss to a min then you will do well.
The chances are if a LPB kicks your arse he will kick your arse as a HPW.
And for LPB and HPW servers go, where do we draw the line. I got a shit pc so can we have a LPBSPC (low ping bastar shit pc)server please I think he killed me becouse he got a better set up and fps than me :0.

This must be my biggest post I have ever done. Im a man of few words hehe but this I feel strongly about, dont segragate the servers. If your m8 is on a server and your not allowed in you will be pissed.

Thats it open to all flames cos I got broad shoulders.

if you can play on a modem with 200 ping & not make any diff to ya game !!!.......

i dont know what planet you are from but ping/lag does make a difference......

a good player will be a good player on high or low ping........


but ask your self why does every serious player get the best connection then can ????

I only got a cable modem cos it works out a fuckload cheaper than my BT phone bill ever did.

I've got a cable modem... in fact, I always have the lowest ping on any server I play on, but I rarely finish top. Most of the top players have broadband connections because they spend far too much time online, and use the connection for other things, like downloading 'stuff'. Once you've tried one, you'll never want to go back.

This isn't a discussion about whether or not ping makes a difference (start a "Does ping make a difference?" thread for that, the minds of most people are made up in that matter and its not going to be changed because of one side shouting the loudest.

The benefits of a ping restricted server are.. people have somewhere they can go and play with no excuses. Its an equal playing field. There are no arguements about ping or shooting around corners or what ever they just don't happen.

Yes I think there should be ping restrictive servers maybe 2 or 3 of each.

Speaking of which, the CS community would not be split by having these servers since clans now seem to go to great lengths to be HPB or LPB now anyway. Also most HPB's play the game more casually than LPB's, playing a couple of games a night. But modem is still the main way people access the internet, and the main way n00bies come into gaming (and the community does need n00bies no matter how annoying they can seem).

hpb servers will split the community, it will increase the skill idfference between thoose playing oon mixed servers and hpb only servers.

There is more bitching and moaning and complaining on hpb servers than on normal servers -dont tell me I cant say that ebcause I havent played on them, I have read teh the forums and Know who much trouble there is on thoose servers.

Peple attacking modem users with better pings or connections, cheat accusations by the bucket load.

I used to kick arse as a HPW. You need to learn what advantages you have as a HPW (specifically - 'bendy bullet syndrome', all LPBs will know what I mean). That's what I learned as a HPW and that's how I kicked arse, and was rarely not at the top of the scoreboard (not that a decent score means you are a good team player, just means you're good at CS DM)

Either a) Get a better connection or b) shut up

For gawds sake for the last time I DONT REALLY WANNA GET BETTER!!!!! I just wanna have a laugh now and then for an hour or two!! Im not great, but cant have any fun with LPBs about.

If getting better doesn't matter, why would score's matter? Surely it's just as much fun going up against a bunch of LPBs as it is HPBs unless the only fun you get on servers is trying to come top...

Unless of course you are one of those who thinks that LPBs are only at the top of the table due to ping, and nothing else

I mean, I'm a super-LPB, and I only occasionally finish first. I sometimes finish last, although I do swear a lot when that happens.
The point... I didn't get much better when I changed off dial-up. It doesn't really matter, especially if you only play for fun.

Call it funny or something, but i knew/know many high skilled quakers on modems, it was a 50/50 thing with most of them in duels
Granted these wern't you run of the mill players, but the fact they could play the game with what they were given made all the difference, they were just that good, ping means nothing.

Lol i remember getting hammerd by a certain chap one night 12-1, he was playing on a borked 350 ping
Got me pay back next night though with a swift 15-2

Everyone saying about these HPBs, are the really good ones, but ya average Joe Bloggs just wants to go on a server have a laugh and get a few kills, not go on a server walk for 30secs and suddebly a 50 pinger kills ya!

The 50 pinger will only walk over you if he's better than you, or if he gets lucky. Yours and the others arguement for high ping servers is complete tosh, ping means very little with this netcode. Not that ping is the be all and end all in another game, barr quake 3

As for you poppy cock bit about the average joe wanting a game to grab some frags, i would don't expect too much. Most of the sad gits with the low pings only have them because they do very little else every night barr sit there in front of the screen playing the game for hours on end day and night. During that time you become rather better than the average Joe

Why have a hpb server? why indeed. I am a 56k player, have been for the past month, but b4 this i had the rocket speedness of ADSL for 14months, which as many of you out there can say that it kicks butt when playing online, pings of 30-70 on any server, no lag etc. This had a huge advantage in my book. But hsince moving house and not being able to get ADSL in this area im relegated to a 56k, back to the world of a 200ping on good day, flushpackets everynow and then and 30secs lag spikes etc. But despite all this i dont care who i play against, hpb or lpb, i feel i can hold my own against anyone, since using BW servers on a regular basis, i was a wp user b4, i know i can finish in the top 3 players on the map, even with my so called 'handicap' of being on a modem. So to sum up, ITS NOT PING ITS SKILL!!! so crap players fess up its not your ping its your crapness.
