I was following this rather nice looking car some nights back, it vaguely resembled a Jaguar XK but eventually I realised it was a BMW, I only caught the final numbers on the tail as it sped away, it was something-4-5.

It was not a 645, the tail was completely different (not the "bangle butt" design), and the designation was in the upper right corner rather than the lower right.

I've tried 345 and 845, but can't find it.

I'm convinced I saw the same model car again yesterday, in broad daylight, on a completely different stretch of road, so it can't be a one-off design, again it had the designation on the upper right of the tail.

Any clues ? T'was a beautiful car.

If it had a '45' in it it wouldn't have been a 1 series or a 3 series, or a Z1 or a Z3. I can only think of a 545, a 645 or a 745 (new bimmers). Was it a new car? Or was it an old car?

Perhaps an older 8 series? (an 840 or 850).

Was it any of these?

Only other thing I can think of is an 840 with a false badge, or a bigger engine dropped in.

I agree with Tom, with the discription it sounds like a 8 series

DOH, completely forgot about the Z8 - doesn't have a 45 on it (to the best of my knowledge) but certainly a possibility.
