I approve of wireless networks. Other people's networks can be very helpful if your own goes down. Its rather like borrowing a cup of sugar from neighbours but you don't have to go through that ingratiating tedium of asking.

my mom was being anal about using wireless net for a while. up untill when i showed her just how fucking easy it was to hack in to. suddenly she found her PC cram packed with 300 gig of animal porn.

now i just have to do the same to my brother in law so he stops using that shit to.

Keep in mind mac spoofing can get around that, a decent WEP or WEP 2 password is the best way.

and last i heard its still easier to hack then a landline connection, even if it is properly configured.

WEP can be cracked from a standing start in 11 seconds or less with off-the-shelf tools that are easily downloaded. I'd recommend using one of the more secure types.

Heh, half the techies I know hack other people's networks so they can get free internet access or do it simply so that they don't burst their own download limits per month etc.

People might not want the data but the bandwidth.
