Anti Vehicle Cert

Havin hit BR18 i figured that i could spend out and get the anti-vehicle cert, for us NC thats the phoenix.

Now, i have never used this weapon before, i usually avoid such weapons as i like to hunt infantry and cloakers on foot.

My question is, what kind of anti-vehicle weapon cant kill a magrider in 5 shots? 5 shots, 5 direct hits and the mag is still looking rather healthy....bearing in mind that as every shot is player-guided you are stood there defenceless for several seconds every time. Can this really be considered an anti-vehicle weapon if it hardly scratches a vehicle?

Surely the anti-v weaps should be more powerful, you only get the 1 weapon after all which seems to be less powerful than the decmator which you get on special assault plus two other spammy weapons for the same cert points.

Dont get me wrong, i really like the phoenix and will persevere with it. But anti-vehicle should surely mean anti-vehicle, shouldnt it?

The Fagrider(sic?) does certainly seem to be a bit powerful for what I thought was supposed to be the light vehicle for the Vanu.

I did have Phoenix until recently then decided it was more use to see round corners and over hills than actually kill anything. It does pathetic damage to infantry but is a good laugh when you hit snipers with it who are tucked up in the hills ;)

Decimator > Phoenix. Just that its dumbfire of course.

The magrider is not classed as a light tank. Thats the lightning, and it does do some pretty heavy damage if you get Adv Targeting and see for yourself.

It's a bit fast to be a heavy tank tho I think.

Thats because its has shit armour compared to the Prowler and shit gun compared to the Vanguard. Its advantage is its mobility.

And yet it can take 5 direct hits from Anti-Vehicle weaponry.

A phoenix yes... which i will also point out isn't there for its sheer power but for its flying aiming thingy.

Not to mention prowlers take an awful lot more then 5 and so do vanguards.

3 cert points for a guided missile that does fek all damage....isnt the point of Anti-Vehicle that it actually is good vs vehicles?

:wall: When did i say it did fek all damage? Im saying compared to the Striker it does fek all as its advantage is being able to guide it right to the target. The VS AV weapons advantage is its rate of fire and ownage vs infantry.

Tried taking down a Reaver with a Decimator btw?

So bloody tricky you will whoop for joy when you do it, same goes for the other AV weapons. But the Pheonix is a star AA weapon, love it :)

Agree that the Pheonix ain't the best weapon against heavy tanks, but thats the game. Each empire has some less than excellent but usually still useful weapons.

I'd rather have the Striker tbh.
3 shots per clip i belive and they can lock-on to enemy vehicles.
Much better than 1 shot Phoenix, although u can pilot the missile you are stood still like a dummy. :)

/me loots Strikers

You forget that the Phoenix has the cunning ability to be able to kill people with no line of sight. The only weapon in the game able to do so I believe. Stand nice and safe inside a base/tower or just dug in behind a hill. Fire the missile off and hunt someone down with it. Okay so you cant stand face to face against a tank, but you can really mess people up with it.

Its the Sniper rifle of AV weaponry ..

TR Thumper Max also can and does all the fekkin time :)

Still have yet to see how they have reduced the splash damage of it, if anything they appear to be stronger.

the pheonix is wicked :) dont bother shooting at tanks i carry 9 spare shots with me and ive direct hitted a tank 9 times and still wasnt dead :( but against MAXs its good fun 3 shots= dead MAX and u get to hear there as the missile hits i love it. and needing no LOS is a life saver too and as siad before its excellent for scouting areas all be it a kinda fast blury view :)

Up close the decimator beats everything.
At range the Phoenix rocks - it seems to scare the peanuts out of Reaver pilots and snipers.

... and it's just so much fun to hunt down a MAX on autorun.
Don't forget the "faster than you:p" /t though. :D

I hate the Phoenix! When I play my MAX, and someone fires one at me, it doesn't matter if I stand behind a wall... the fecker does a 90 degree turn around it and smacks me.

A squad was using them very effectively on a tower assault the other night. No MAX could show it's face outside the door without getting a slew of these in the kisser.

Best when you fly them into a towers top door then down the stairs.... the /tell i get off ppl calling me a cheat or just saying nice shot are amazing.

I'm working my way through most of the heavier weapons trying them out and respeccing to see what I like. Have found Phoneix not much use against tanks, but great against airborne units (as someone said), the Decimator topnotch for ground based stuff if it isn't too mobile, and the rocket rifle useful against light tanks.

First time I used the rocket rifle in secondary mode I thought the thing had blown up in my face :D

Decimator vs Max is just too funny to describe as they lumber up to you thinking "Mmm lunch..." and then are spread all over the wall behind them.

Currently on Jackhammer. This + See Hidden, er, I mean Darklight. Funny :D

I've given up using my striker on tanks now, pumped 9 shots into one the other day and still barely made a dent in it. I wont be giving it up though, it's still a great tool for scaring the crap out of pilots because you dont even need to fire it :)

The Striker like Phoenix excels when you are used to it though, people really hate when you pump 2 shots in the vague direction of a target then lock on with the 3rd shot which makes it seem like all 3 hit almost together!

The AV cert is a myth, the only AV weapon is the decimator.

Lancer is AI

Phoenix is Ahidingmaxsandthoserubbishreaverpilots

Striker is AA and AMAX
