Anti-Cheat Measure?

Heres a simple, and i think very good measure to help prevent cheating, especially in clans. I read in another thread that all cheats are logged by the admins. Why not follow BY's lead and make the list public. ( http://www.itwasmybrother.com/ ). It wouldnt take long for some webby designer to make a simple online system that submitted cheats to a database.

There is a reason why I ask this. Someone has told me that a member of my clan was banned on BW servers for cheating. Obviously as a CL completely against cheating, action would need to be taken against him if he was cheating, however I dont know if he was or not. If the database was online I could simply look up his WonID and then find out.

It wouldnt be that hard to make and it would be fast to submit into, and us CLs would be able to check out our players before they go and get us kicked out of competitions etc.

But lets also remember that you'd need some sort of proof to submit with it, not just the wonid, then some asshole could just report any wonid he could find.

Atrax, you just almost described what some BY admins tend to do, some BY admins are a bit corrupt, and tend to ban people because they kill them to much. Deeming them to be 'wallhackers' and then submitting their details onto that database, thus giving the player a bad name while banning them from BY totally.

There is room for abuse with a database system :/

But I like the idea of having a database like that definately, if I could search through the cheats caught in a database like that I'd be rather happy, could start matching aliased player names / wonids to some 'top' clan players. Then stir up some action :)

I'd like a database like that to be like a HL stat thing as well, in keeping name and wonid used with that name type details on it.

So you could say look up youre own wonid and see all the names youve used on it on Barrysworld, in addition to that if that wonid has been caught with a cheat of some sort it would display incident details as well. This would help in naming/shaming cheaters.

Note: The BY database only houses things submitted by admins, I would love to see a database that adds all the jedi no cheat/disolution catches into it as well. Could build up an extensive database that way :)

I do require proof mate.

I am the only person authorised to add entries into that database.

Also I only accept submissions from provable server admins in the form on a anticheat software detection log.

I will not enter someone if I get an E-Mail stating "this person was cheating on our server" without the relevent log enties to back it up.

This is to prevent the very abuse of the system that is mentioned here.

The requirements of a submission are stated on the submission page of the databse.
