"Almost as an immediate response to Sony announcing the PlayStation 2 price cuts in Europe to 249 and 259 pounds, comes Microsoft’s response. The actual response, as most would guess, comes in the form of a price drop and will put the system at 159.99 pounds ($244 USD) in Britain and 249 euros ($244 USD) in other European countries. The price drop for Xbox will take effect on August 30th. "

hmmmm i read about this, and my Xbox has been despatched today aswell - only lost 30quid then :/ now if i was really bothered i'd ring em up and tell em to not send it but i know something will go wrong... or they'll laugh down the phone and hang up..

And the fact they have:
-reduced the price twice
-give japanese xbox owners a free copy phantasy star online when they buy xbox live

you could argue this was done in desperation, but as the consumer i dont give a wank how much it sells in japan,america,uk or in remote parts of venezula.

as long as im playin games that i enjoy then im happy chappy

Not evil, just totally money driven and having far too much political influence for many peoples liking. Yes, money driven, the same could be said for many companies but would they have survived being dismantled by the American goverment had they grown to the size of MS.

Microsoft might not go bust but don't bet on them giving endless finance to a product that does'nt deliver the kind of profit they are used to.

Saying all of this I am still very tempted to buy one, just for Halo

Never bought a PSX, doubt I'll buy a PS2, unless some killer game comes out for it.

I play consoles less and less nowadays, just sticking to PC Games (and mainly q3), but I'm very happy with my GC and GBA.

Especially as the two new Metroid games will be released in November for both formats - Fusion and Prime for GBA and GC respectively.
