Another ranger question

Just been having fun in bg3 and the usual damage i do on a crit is around 300 - 350 but wtf i just did 650 odd damage on an avalonian who was orange con to me is this normal, do you get crits that dont say (+crit of xx amount) ?

You got lucky and caught a caster with crap armour/resists and all his shields down.
Crit shots can't also crit for an extra amount though.
