What is the best recording software, at the best price (well free if poss). Basically I want to hook up my turntable to my soundcard (via an amp, I know) and record some old LP's and burn them to CD.

I have goldwave to clean them up a bit, but what is the best recorder to use?

'tis teh pwn. You can add 'echo' and speed it up.

Personally, I use Sound Forge for single tracks, it supports DirectX for plugins, and can load pretty much anything you toss at it. www.sonicfoundry.com for the demo, I've heard astalavista includes various payment options for it, however, if you use it a lot, you really should buy it, as it is 'le dogs'

I am always happy to pay for software, as best I can, but I guess at that money Sound Forge is aimed at a professional market and not the home user. I have taken your advice on EAC, and was hoping that there was a similar shareware type package for sound recording. I have used MusicMatch, but don't like it really.
