Annoying cs problem

When dead, watching other people, if I move my pov around, there is a delay depending on the complexity of the graphics being drawn. For instance, if there are a few people fighting, and I pan left/right, there is a 1/2 second delay before my pov moves. Typing, viewing the scores, everything is slower.

This does not happen while alive. Everything works ok then.

Any ideas? It only just started happening. I reinstalled hl and cs, and updated vid card drivers. I can't find anything sucking at system resources either.

The only thing I have done recently is play around with the mouse settings, but that wouldn't create a distinction between being dead or alive, would it?

Could it be some setting I have inadvertantly made, that affects spectator view only?

Thx dolly, but wouldn't that cause problems all the time instead of just when dead?

It seems the computer insists on drawing as many frames as it can, before it moves to the pov I wanted. So, instead of drawing maybe 2 or 3 frames during a 180 degree whip pan, it draws 10 or so.

It only does this when I'm dead!

Do you think a complete removal/reinstall might help? Are there any files that are not normally overwritten during the install?

I have fixed it. I didn't find the cause of the problem, but I used XP's system restore function, went back to the 26/10/02 config, and it is fine.

I don't think it was a problem with cs or hl, but something to do with the mouse, possibly the ps2 report rate.

Lesson learned I think... :uhoh:

Anyway, just to head off in a completely different direction, does anybody know of a good method to avoid rewallpapering small sections of the wall, that you have just plastered? I just installed some extra lighting in my house, and I really don't want to re-paper over the plaster I filled the chiseled-out-channels with.

Can I cut small pieces of paper, and blend them in with sandpaper (its all heavy lining paper)?

Either :

Add a feature to cover (e.g. Horizontal Dado rails, or pictures) depending on the direction / size of the channels.

or

If it is just plain lining paper, cut out a piece to cover the channel you have hacked out and trim to fit.

A question tho - how can you see the wall with your wall hack installed ?

No, the wallhack (bolster chisel) was removed when I finished cutting the channels.

The channels cannot be hidden by features, so I'm going to try blending the plaster with the wallpaper. The whole house needs replastering anyway, its all 90 year old gray plaster shite, that crumbles when you look at it. But fuck it, the next occupants can deal with that.

I've got an annoying CS problem too.

Its usually happens near to the start of the game (but can happen at any point)

At the top left of my screen the following appears :

It's funny that, because I have a similar one. Suddenly all my frags get stolen and/or my bullets don't hit anything. The visible symptoms are different though :

Super_Gray connected

h4x tbh.

Well, after I installed natural selection, the problem returned. So I deleted the hl dir, and reinstalled. You would be surprised what a difference not having loads of mods installed makes. Much faster to exit game now.
