Animist nerfs continued

Seems they continue to fuck up the class that noone could be arsed even trying to fix? A class that too few played, until the release of FoP, where they became more and more used. With that small fix, it will become very hard (if not impossible) for an animist to nuke someone inside a keep. For those who dont know: Animist bombers take power each cast, even if they dont hit the target. (not sure when or if that gets fixed) They also have 20 seconds to hit the target, or they will explode in empty air, costing valuable power points for the caster. Its obvious mythic dont want anyone to play the class. They gave them limited shrooms (a class thats supposed to be dependant on their pets more or less?) and now they will make them partly useless for the upcoming release of NF?

Correct me if i got any facts wrong here. though, its just a matter of time before this thread turns into a "that class is horrifyingly overpowered"-thread thats filled with various screenshots and stories heard or seen somewhere anyways :) discuss!

Animists are basically the Hib equivalent of the necro - outstanding at certain aspects of PvE and horridly crap in RvR (although animists can camp whatever they feel like atm with shroom armies). Noone who's seen animists in action can claim that the pet cap wasn't needed - if it went too far or not can be discussed, but the principal nerf was justified. I agree that this "fix" might've been unnecessary - I havn't tried NF though so can't comment on how the new keeps will work with this; as for the powerloss, necros suffer from the same problem - power is drained when the spell is initiated, not when it's casted.

Yupps. However, it was the FoP that made it possible for them spam the amounts of shrooms that they do now. Was very, very little whine on the class before the introduction of that ML ability. Ofc, they nerf the class that probably gets the most out of it, while still being low in population, instead of nerfing the FoP and with that getting the entire daoc community against them. Necros also suffer from the same power issue, they can however get that power and more back when the spell hits. Wont start to compare those 2 classes though, as they are way too different to do so imo :)
I dont have a 50 animist myself, but i can say i think the shroom limit was a bit overkill (ala mythic).

animists will still be one of the best keep fighting classes imo .. spam those shrooms (even if 15 is max) and people barely get inside the keep :> 3x15 shrooms will keep most SBs/Infils from PAing in that area ;>

Only if they are sight spec - if not they can't even use a potion without dropping pet (and therefore 80% of buffs) :/

well this "fix" also hit theur as there biggest offence is there pets :)
but i hope they let atleast bombers and theur pets get through the door.
But 3x15 lvl 50s shrooms hurt alot and with the LOS issue with shrooms nuking u w/o los and the new way GTs r placed animist can still do what they r best to............. keeps. :)

Afaik, animists arent able to have 15 lvl 50 shrooms up at once. The power cost is way too high for that, even with fop and crack. And from what i read they "fix" their line of site, ground target and pets ai. Resulting in shrooms not nuking through walls (they dont do that now for that matter. they aggro, try to nuke, but without any result), not being able to set pets inside/outside walls, and outisde your own los. But most of all, the shrooms aggro and stays aggro on the target, even if its miles away, instead of resetting aggro each round, to nuke nearest enemy target. Resulting in the expensive shrooms being totally useless in many situations. Not to mention easy killed or CC:d

Would be cool to get some input from animists in here :)

you abuse them, you lose them. Happened to LA, necors LOS, Shamen End buff etc.

before the nerf a pair of animists can and a fop druid can pwn virtually every artifact I can think of.

okay 15 lvl 32 shrooms then :).

i play on camlann and face animist once i a while and my experince is: they see u, u hide behind a wall (easy done in aegir or goth), u get nuked 1 time of all the pets. it seems to me shrooms only check for los 1 time :).
i dont know about the agro issue.
but i can tell atleast healing bombers r bugged in dungeons (stop half ways to target).

Ehm yes there is a ring in alb with -3 con.. drops off those legionares around lvl 20-24 i think.. had it once and aparrently hey aint much for dropping :> Ill just try and search for it in my screens cuz i know i took a ss of it due to its insanely high +reaver skills at that lvl :>

edit: ill just try to roll a necro and farm those mobs (seems easy for a lvl 20-22 necro) and ill try it :> tho i got a feeling its ban if u exploit it in any bad ways :>

You mean their level 45 baseline lifetap? (VWs and Animists are the only "nuker" classes in game that havent got a 50 base nuke, but have to settle with a 45:er) Ask any sorc how good his damage out is when using that one, and keep in mind that animist (and VW) one delves for lower, gets resisted more often and steals less life. Im not saying the lifetap is useless. I think lifetap is better than baseline dds many times. But i would be mighty pissed if i speced 48 or 50 in a line for specnukes, and would have to be forced to use a baseline nuke because im not allowed to use my specs keep fights.

For those of you that dont know, this "fix" will stop theurg pets in keep fights as well, as they wont be allowed to go through locked doors either... I know the Theurg community aint happy with this. And it seems the animist TL is about to give up on the class. After years of failures and bugs with the class that mythic just cant be arsed to fix. And after nerfs coming with more or less each patch or fix, seems he finally had it. I dont feel sad for the fotms that found out how good that class is and juts PL:d one. But the ones that fought hard to reach 50 through loads and loads of boring exping and joining every little raid they could, just to get some exp.

well obviously Mythic 'intended' it so no harm in doing it :)

ya but necro got from 20-25 (so mobs turned grey) and no ring.. so i kinda gave up on it :>

I'm sorry, I am this |-| close from making this a "cry more" post. What is the problem here? Are you complaining due to the following thing in the patch notes?
- Monsters should now recognize locked keep doors. Sending a theurgist pet or animist bomber at a keep defender will make them stop in front of the keep door.
Most animists I know spam pets in keep defenses, and you have a 2.5 sec lifetap to cast anyway. Oh, and I would claim that necros are more bugged than animists in RvR.

This is not about "oh my god they are removing our insta wtfpwn abilities". Its about not being able to use specnukes in keepdefenses, where animists are meant to shine, probably more than any other class. As far as i know, their bombers can be both cc:ed and killed. Not to mention that they dont live for more than 20 sec, then they go *poof*, costing power without doing any good. Wonder how the reaction from the wizards would be if they removed their abilities to both specnuke and ae nuke inside/outside a keep, and they would had to use the baseline nuke only. And if you read up some, you will see my response on "you can still use the lifetap". I know necros are bugged. However, there are very few abilities and ra:s that seems to work for the animists. Not gonna sit here and explain them all. Take a look on this site if you are really interested.

There's a bracer drops off some worms in Barrows has negative conn iirc.
