The farmer will be happy as well. 50:50 split of the profits with the guy who found it.
And with it classed as "treasure", it becomes property of the Crown and can't be removed from the UK. Nice! :)

Oh noes Ilaya's gone full pirate!!

btw how many metal detectors are out there right now thinking "it could be me it could be mee!" hehe, I'd love to find something like that, I found a metal button with a dragon on it when I was a kid and tbh it still lives in my treasure box lol

dont talk to me about metal detectors.

the park in town used to be used as a training ground during world war 2 i think. in particular they used it for training to throw grenades.

i was there when i was kid about 15 years ago or something. some bloke with a metal detector had dug 'something' up and suggested i could take it home.
after smashing it around the pavement for a couple of hours and whacking off the dirt, it turned out that it was one of the grenades that still had a pin in it, although it was firmly fused together through ageing.

i got a family member to take it to work as they worked for the police. he nearly got fired and the bomb squad had to remove it from his car and carry out a controlled explosion.

have to wonder what type of adult would tell a child to pick up an old grenade he found. apparently if had went off, it would of blown up quite a bit of the area where i was smashing it about.

Really nice find, I just don't like metal detectors, they destroy so many different archaeological sites, just looking for the shiny stuff, and then take it all out of all context and make it archaeologically all but worthless. =(

I found a balloon in my back garden.

I tried to blow it up, but it had this wierd white, creamy stuff in it that tasted awful. :(
