As a little sociological and end of year exercise I went back through this entire Barrysworld Quake2 forum to see what has really get your average Quake2 player going in 1999.

Here in reverse order are the predictably sad results

5. "More Control" - 30 posts.
Yup - the quest to derive whatever 'legal' advantage you can from perfecting your binds/aliases, And hoping that next time you won't embarrass yourself quite so badly in that all important clan game, "Sorry chaps, I was crap, my config's all messed up, nobody recorded it did they?"

4. "Might as well give it a go" - 39 posts.
Forget DNA or the Theory of Relativity, this is the discovery of the century "Ooh look, I can do smileys on this web-board!!"

3. "Attention all Patriots" - 44 posts.
A CHEAT!!! What's more a Yankee cheat - offering both Zbot and Ratbot!! Oh how the flames fly - moral superiority and xenophobia all in one easy rant, luvverly!

2. LPBS! - 50 posts.
"I've just become an LPB and now everyone thinks I'm a c*nt" Boo-hoo!
Oh dear, much philosophical posturing on this one, worthy of an Oxbridge debating society. Seldom have we seen such blatant self-interest masquerading as righteous indignation.
The end result? Yup, LPBs ARE c*nts, at least for now

And of course at No.1, what do we have......?

Yes this is the thread that really got the Barrysworld Quake2 community going, someone mentioned girls. Unfortunately this thread has gone quiet recently, I presume everyone's too busy downloading porn.

Speaking with my recently married man hat on:

Relationships work through communication and compromise.

ie. I buy her all the take-away curries she can eat and she lets me play Q2 and also allows me to wear her underwear around the house (indeed she actively encourages the latter - bit strange really), which I consider to be a bit of a bargain.

I tried to engage her enthusiasm in Q2, but she's a Vegetarian Gardener (don't ask how we met - long story), and the chances of her taking delight in a precisely timed Quad Grenade are pretty minimal...
