And people are complaining about the way WoW beta testers were picked...

Taken From Camelot Herald

Got a fun little half contest, half event for anyone who wants to copy to Pendragon by tomorrow. Read on for details!

Tomorrow, Wednesday evening, at 9:30 EST until 11:30 EST, it's a game of Hide and Seek in the Pendragon Frontier areas.

Saeria, nobly played by Julie (the other half of the Herald Army), will hide somewhere in the frontier on Pendragon. She'll fly around invisible until she finds a good spot. Then, she'll set herself to a type of monster found in the frontier, set herself to mortal, and wait. No developer god powers will be used past that point (except for mouthing off in open channels, knowing her) until she's killed. She will be level 50, and may or may not fight back... but again, she won't fight with any special abilities whatsoever.

The first group to find her and kill her will win a third stage beta account for each group member. Should more than one group find her, the winner is the one with the killing blow.

Saeria will appear at least twice in each frontier area, so a total of six rounds will be played.

This is in the frontiers, of course, so watch out for the other players...

The only whine I feel towards this is that I don't have an american account to play with. GOA should use the 'Hide&Seek' method to select additional beta testers as well imo :D

They are using DAoC as a means of getting players a beta account for another game?

Nice marketing.

I'm not bothered in the slightest anyway, WoW looks like a steaming pile of rubbish anyway. :)

Sombody didn't read the post did they?

...well ok, so that doesn't specifically say a DAoC beta account - but whatever. If you look at the WoW forums since they started sending out Beta invites you'll see there are two main groups...

Beta Testers: People who got in
People Who Want To Be Beta Testers: people who didn't get in and have made it their goal in life to make decredit those who are beta testing in every possible way in the vien hopes that maybe they'll get made into beta testers (with that level of maturity its unlikley)

I disagree though, WoW looks nice. Though I don't think i'd want to play in a community in which threatening to slit your wrists just because you didn't get accepting into the 'play before you pay' beta is really somthing i'd want to do :)

What on earth are you talking about? They are offering slots in the Frontiers beta using a competition, a bit like the PvE screenshot one they just ran.
