seems (to me atleast) to suggest it's just a poorly worded way of saying "Free month to hook new customers before we switch back to subscriptions" - unless i'm mis-reading sometime, and considering it's 11:45 thats a very strong possibility

Well it's free so it can't hurt to find out, so long as you have a decent connection to dowload the client of course.

The terms and conditions state that anyone signing up during the month gets to play the original client for free till January 1st 2006.

Lets hope the expansion packs arent anything like DAoC ones, sure 1 years free subs' but you cant do jack shit. Also liked the part about the serverloads, sorta understandable though

The problem is?
You get a free account and playtime in a mmorpg game? If you like it you may be tempted to pay for the expansions. Its good marketing sense, they have dangled bait, its up to you to bite it. Even if you dont buy expansions, its still free, so costs you nothing. think its called a Win/Win situation. I cant see anyway that you can lose on this deal

You have to pay for the expansions, its not even worth playing with out them.
It has a HUGE learning curve, but it is a very nice game.

It had a crap launch, but the game really has come into its own and if you fancy sci-fi and not fantasy i would give it a go.

But i say it again it has a huge learning curve, and is much more complex than DAoC.

I have a 220 Engineer, but i havent played in about 4 months now, so am not even sure what the new expansion Alien Invasion is like.

I read that things are much much better now, alot less lag and frame rate issues. Gonna try it myself this weekend if I get a chance.

I just tried it, and uninstalled it :/ Terrible lag and gfx lag, very very dated gfx, and unresponsive controlls. Maybe its a nice game but i dont have the patience to get beyond those drawbacks atm - give wow.
