Well not only did BW hit trouble but just this week I, like many others, found out we were gonna lose our jobs....yes the GP job loses but ho hum

Ironic thing was it happened to be my first full time job after college etc and I worked in the Gameplay Store in Kingston, for the 2 months it was open.
We found out that GP was basically gonna tell us to f off and not pay us a £ but Dixons had turned round to them and said they couldn't since they only owned the shops, DSG (Dixons Store Group) owned the stock and employees. DSG is now trying to find all the employees of the GP shops new jobs at one of the many chains DSG owns, or you can take a redundancy payment and then find a new job.
Basically GP wanted to have shops hoping that they wouldn't keep seeing their share price drop since they were considered a Internet company and like all internet companies the market was getting rough. After realising that openning the shops in a joint partnership with DSG had no effect and that they could do with some more money they decided to sell the shops and lay off many employees, or restructuring as GP puts it in there offical statement.
Although a few warning signs of strange things showed it wasn't until our manager was called to a emergency managers meeting on Thursday that we found out that the shops were going to be closed as of Thursday night, no GP representative was actually at the meeting....typical gutless action.
The DSG manager who came in on Friday to talk to us explained what had happened etc even though I already knew why GP did what it had, what he did say was that when GP bought Jakata off DSG they knew it wasn't making money and wouldn't for another 5 years odd so GP can't use the excuse of poor profits.
Amazingly DSG is being very good to us and its a shame that the stores had to close since all the employees/managers of GP Kingston had lots of fun and we still had a laugh Friday morning.

yea, v bad news .....
looks like its been a bad wk for a lot of peeps this wk (theres been the odd layoff in wales to, i beleive).
i have to agree that its not on when companies pull that shit ... i no thay cant always breadcast the news, but leaving ppl in the lurch like that .........
anyway, g'luck and i hope you get sorted out soon.
