An appeal for help.

My new rig is a 950 Athlon Tbird with 128meg of RAM, Win Me a Herc Geforce2 Pro 64mb DDR and an SB 1024 sound card on a Epox 8kta main board.
All Q3 based games crash within a few secs of running the exe.
All Q2 based games will play after installation, but then crash each other time.
HELP!

you dont say what mobo you are using ....

i would suggest gtting the latest agp driver for your mobo and use the 6.50 det drivers from nvidea for u vid card.

I was having a similar prob with q3, it would run but hang whenever i started a map. This was just after buying more memory and if I only used one module then it worked fine...defeated the object of more memory tho even tho windows worked fine with it.
I figured that the bios was shagged and dimm sockets 2 & 3 were buggered, however as it was an old BX board I couldn't find the bios anywhere on the net and couldn't find the original disc so I had an excuse to upgrade.
Works fine now, with that memory and the new 133 memory I've bought so your prob could be the memory. Cheap generic memory can have probs with high performance AGP cards. Also check your CAS settings are correct, most PC100/133 memory is CAS3 and running it at CAS2 can cause probs.
What have you upgraded, the cpu,gfx card,mobo ? Is it overclocked....it could be any number of reasons but first of all go with the detonator drivers and make sure you get rid of the old ones as instructed in the readme.
Also installing a new mobo,cpu,gfx card all at the same time without re-formating the HD and doing a clean install of windows leaves all those old drivers and .vxd files lying around.If all else fails, then re-format and start fresh.
