uber ranger guide
Being a solo ranger is probably alot harder then being a solo scout.
Simply coz you'll have to face scouts with insane blocking rates which especially counts during sieges.
However the only thing scouts seem to have going for them in close combat is shield slam which i personally havent had much problems with since so far i've purged every single slam i've had on me from a scout. I only have purge 1 btw.
Im a ranger rr 6.8 on excaliber and the problem there with scouts is that alot of scouts have zephyr (which i do not and refuse to even get it since i think the ability is total bullshit). Mincers there often also have zephyr. So teaming up for just this is already a good idea.
However im the fastest lvling ranger on my server and always have the most rps a week so i must be doing something right. That plus ofcourse i spend alot of time rvring .
To make a story short however as a ranger the key seems to be to find yourself a good stick/assist teammate, or 2 even. Once you found those you can wreck havoc and gain lots of rps.
Being outzerged wont be much of a problem then since its all quick kills and run (quick kills is to hard if you have no partner unless you tend to run into solo avalonians).
Brittleguards are no problem for me at all since i've always used javalins for insta casting and using them to destroy any brittleguard and interrupt casters or unstealthing stealthers i come across (so for me mos 3 is enough to react fast enough to instacast javalins to unstealth anything comming to close. I rarely get pa'd.)
Assist training is the key for me, my small team kills very fast. Even during sieges we take out a caster on a wall trying to cast his stuff before he can even move out of sight, thanx to assist and multiple crit shots. Or kill alot of scouts popping with their bow out before they realise whats happened.
Now the good thing about being a ranger is you can also meelee very well, aim for high cd. So taking on tank classes after already wearing them down with arrows is also not much of a problem.
Also know your targets i guess, if you see 3 stealthers with one mincer, take out mincer first and the rest will be easy.
If you have good assist/stick partner you can roam fast and alot which means you change positions alot and are hard to be found.
Even taking out 2 casters of which one has the stun pet shouldnt be much of a problem. Even just 2 rangers generally kill one caster before the other can even react. Javalins are also key though, if you fail you can cast javalin to interrupt and take over the fight again or get the hell out of there.
BD's, sorces, teamed up mincers, sm's etc they all drop within seconds against 2 rangers/scouts/hunters if the assister works well with his MA.
