Just played a game where the enemy flag was surrounded by a excellent defence setup (turrets, motion sensors and always 5 defenders). Somehow you capped twice (well would of been 3 but you died half way and I capped it for you :} ).

I can understand how you got back since half way there was a team mate standing by, and I followed you back giving cover, but how did you get through their defences ? :)

well there was a lot of luck involved :)

but basically my tactic for that map (the one with all the fog and water) if its working (sometimes it doesnt) is I run over and stop on a high hill about 340 m. from the flag. It's like really high up. And I whip the gren launcher out and start to fly towards the flag spamming grens all over while flying over there. This causes some confusion and I usually get the mines on the flag and if Im lucky the satchel charge (along with turrets). Then I land near the flag, run like hell and grab it. If I get it any further its even more luck. So like actually a lot of luck with a D like that :) But the gren launcher really helps, and having a sniper on that map sucks anyhow because of all the fog, grens raining over them through the fog really stirs up the D.

oh and I never stop to fight, if people start attacking me on the way I just ignore them and fly/ski away, so I dont get many frags but even more runs at the flag :D

soz about my spelling...

Is that Quagmire?, i have just found the 'secret formular' for that map. Sensorjammer and flash grenades. Stand ontop of the hill (like said above) and fire towards the base to cause some confusion and as much damage as possible.then fly in with and turn on the sensor jammer when you hear the turrets turn. Drop 2 flash bangs as you go in and fire the plasma rifle towards the flag. Run out dropping flashes as you go and keep an eye on your NRG, turn on the jammer in bursts and get out of there as fast as possible, the reason why flashes are good on that map is because if someone decides to shoot you with the missile then you can just fall into the water.

I used to think it was the hardest map to cap on but when you find out how, it is a lot simpler than it seems. (although still V hard :D)

Sounds really cool, gott try that out :D

I really never used the flash grens or concs. I tried the concs to get the enemy flag carrier to drop the flag but it has never worked yet.

Try not to use flash grens. Most of the time you'll flash yourself and any new defenders coming your way will not be affected :/

Conc grenades though rock :)

I have to disagree :), if you have the flag and are running away and drop a flash gren I find that by the time the gren explodes it is behind you and therefor does minimal blinding to yourself while often blinding atleast 1 or 2 of the defenders (although I've read that the flash gren is useless if the enemy is over 30 metres away).

On Quagmire I often throw a couple of flash grens just behind the teammate who has just grabbed the enemy flag and have seen it work very well many times with defenders seeming to shoot in the air randomly (either that or they just have very bad aim :), also this often causes atleast one defender to turn their attention to me rather than firing at the flag carrier.

I have only ever seen conc grens used once by an attacker and it was against me on tombstone, they had just grabbed the flag and I was standing in the corridoor above spamming the tube like thing, and the attacker (some cF guy, don't remeber who) threw a Conc. gren up making my plasma gun jump out of my hands, by the time I had got my spinfusor out, he was at the door and so I only got him with a little splash damage and not enough to kill him, was very stylishly done. They look like the sort of thing that could be really used well if practised with.

Having said that, I find Conc. grens great on defense against plasma & chain gun wielding light armors when playing as the Heavy on the Flag.

If you are uncareful with concs do you loose your own weapons?

And is it 100% that a flag carrier should loose the flag if conced? If so, has anyone retrieved a flag that way?

Does he perhaps loose all his weapons first and THEN the flag?

Yes you lose the weapon you are currently using

>And is it 100% that a flag carrier should loose the flag >if conced? If so, has anyone retrieved a flag that way?

No the flag remains on the carrier (90% sure of that)

>Does he perhaps loose all his weapons first and THEN the >flag?

If your hit, you lose the weapon your carrying + your pack. If 2 grens hit you, you'll lose 2 weapons and so on.

Next time we meet on a server I'll lob a conc greande at you :p

Conc. Grens are excelent when there is a standoff and the enemy is hiding in there base as a heavy with shield pack.

Simply throw a gren at him, wait a sec, then grab the flag which comes flying off him (he wont have a weapon for a sec or 2 so use this time to touch your flag), by the time he realises whats happened your flag is returned and a teammate has capped.

By far the easiest way to return a well protected flag IMO :)
