Well, it was new for me. (I know, I'm old and behind. Have some patience for your elders. ;) )

americans never cease to amaze me. a group of tourists came into the bookshop i work in, to look at travel guides for the good old u s of a... and they proceeded to tell me all about their state, and how proud they were of their country, and so on and so forth. i'd have cried if i hadn't been laughing (inwardly) so much.

old but funny.

Have to wonder how many americans are truely like that though, would be worrying if there are as many as that video seems to indicate

It cant be limited to the US though - I remember having a discussion about geography years and years ago in highschool about where the alps are.

Everyone in the class, (including the teacher), was trying to tell me the alps are between china and india :eek7: (they meant the himalayas i guess), not one of them would believe me when I kept saying over and over that I knew for a fact they are north of italy.

It turned into a heated debate and then into an arguement (stupid i know but i can be a stubborn and pedantic bastard at times :)), untill I eventually got an atlas out and showed them. they feigned a lack of interest when they found out I was right :D

It just goes to show though that kind of ignorance isnt limited to the US :)

As said above it isnt limited too america.. I saw on a proggie here in holland where they asked people too point out the Netherlands on a map of europe....
There were actually people that had no clue where the country they live in was....

PS; find your nearest nuclear bomb shelter, cuz with Iran shit is going to hit the Fan...

alot of ppl are like that, heck most ppl in my country cant say where nakskov is. Wich is the largest city on our 3rd largest island (sjæland, fyn, lolland)
come to think of it how many thats reading this know where Ohio is? i mean alot of ppl wont even know its part of the us, and even fewer knows its the state between missouri & indiana! knowing something about a country outside your own is a rare gift...
"dansish is that a laungauge? i thought it was butter!" or "denmark ??? ohh wait isnt that the capitol of stockholm?" (just some of the stuf you hear when out there in the world)

The world wont ever be a better place until people start to realize that they arent citizens of a country but of a planet. Oh and that it isnt the one with the most money when he dies that wins.
