Except...it isn't. For the first time in ages this was shaping up to be a decent season, loads of close racing, a wide-open championship, half a dozen different teams capable of real competition; I actually looked forward to race weekends and actually watched the races this year. Then this.
The blame for this farce is widespread; Michelin (of course) for being incompetent, the FIA for being inflexible and bloody-minded, Ferrari, ditto (the other teams offered to race for no points and let the Bridgestone runners move to the front of the grid, as long as they put the chicane in; Ferrari and the FIA had almost nothing to lose, and the public would have got a race). While I can sympathise with Jordan for racing (God knows they needed the points), once it was clear that F1 was going to be thrown into disrepute, they should have withdrawn as well; then Minardi would have too, and we'd have just been left with the Ferraris. Then the FIA would have had to get off their arses and have done something. As it is, they can get away with claiming it was a 'real' race, and not refund all those fans who paid the usual F1 outrageous ticket prices. I'm pretty sure they'll get hit with a class action suit for this anyway.
Once again, the powers-that-be in F1 and Ferrari show they couldn't give a shit about the fans.
This years racing has been better, with actual racing instead of follow the leader style of previous years and the US GP looked promising.
I personally believe this was a break down from all angles with Michelin initiating it then having a load of incompetent repair men turning up to try and fix it.
