AMD Stability Problem

Ok ppl, I have an Athlon XP 2000, an Abit KR7-A-RAID and 512mb 2100 DDR ram in a Lian-Li PC70-USB case. The cpu/system temp was 55/38 degrees, which is blatantly too high. I put it on my desk and it dropped to 51/31 degrees.
My main problem is the stability. I have the latest (4.37) VIA 4in1's, my bios has the most recent flash upgrade, and everytime i try to run a certain exe file, or play a game for anything between 2-5 minutes and over, it either freezes completely or reboots itself. This is really starting to piss me off and i can't think what is causing the problem. There are 4 80mm fans in the case, a Coolermaster HCC-002 heatsink/fan on the cpu (running at 7337rpm currently), 2 fans on the Enermax 550w psu and 4 fans in the Cooldrives.
WTF is going on? :(
TIA

Graphics card overheating? That is what it was when I had the same problem.

Is it still doing it when you open the case up?

Tried switching graphics cards?

I had loads of problems with my GF3 only to find that it was broken and had been causing the freezes and lockups on both the machines I had it in. Its just given me an excuse to get a GF4-4600 :)

Ahh it all falls into place now... I think the fan on my Geforce 2 GTS is "pants". It's a tacky lil black pos that can't possibly keep the GPU cool... Oh, and I just realised that it's not spinning... Arse... :(
New graphics card it is for me then :)

Heh, bastard. I did say in the other post that i had problems with the Athlon, and I also said I would go for a nice 2.2Ghz P4 if I could afford it. Embattle's timing was just a tad tragic (for me) with that other post :p

just to be a b|0tch I thought I'd just say that with my AMD XP1800+[oc'd to 1900+atm],GF2-gts,epox 8kha+, my AMD tbird900 with the same gf on a kt7 [non-raid], my AMD duron750 that I had parallel to the tbird with a gf1 on another kt7 never ever gave me a single problem.
Before that I had a dual cellery433 on a BP6 that also never gave me a single prob. before that I had a p2-350 and you guessed it...no problems. I can go on back through my intel-fanbwoi period but it gets pretty boring heh.
All in all I've had just about zero problems, except for a broken abit mobo once. perhaps I'm just lucky ;)

keep bioses, drivers and stuff up to date...and all is cool imo

Oh, you're goooooood Itcheh, I didn't even have to say about my gfx card in the first post (which, by the way, was a deliberate omission to keep you all on your toes) and you still figured it out... :p
Just ordered me a crystal orb to try and keep the thing cool :)

What would y'all be reckoning be the bestest way to be getting off that thar heatsink/fan from mah Geforce? I heard taking the card out, putting it in an antistatic bag for half an hour, then sliding a credit card under the heatsink and prying it off with a screwdriver was the best/easiest way?

thought the KR7 only supported up to 1900 XP?

Tis all sorted now thanks Panda :)

Put a crystal orb on my geforce and it solved every single problem i had with the comp. Also put 2 thermaltake 80mm's above the psu in my case. :)

I take back everything bad I've said about AMD cpu's. With proper cooling, this beast flies :D
