Am i the only Smite cleric out there?

Just woundering if there any any more smite clerics out there?

..and before you Albs start flaming this thread, i already know what you think of smite cleric, i'd much prefer to hear what the oter realms think of us.

I'm 43 Smite - best spec DD after nerf
24 rejev - 2nd best Res
21 Enh - Some reasonable buffs

Also Jenkz in my guild is 43/25/20 getting the next group heal I think and losing a buff.

Now question for you - Why keep 44 smite? I can't see it worth it for 5 sec longer on the mes once it's every 5 mins?

There are other smite clerics out there too Blaen is a prime example and Khaine too.

I am smite specced;

44 Smite, 25 Rejuv, 18 enh at the moment, but will lose a smite point in respec and put it in enh post 1.51.

I've never had a problem healing with that spec whilst levelling, or getting groups as well.

The above is also the "cookie" cutter smite template after nerf.

All +13 with items and RR.

There are quite a few smite clerics in game, as mentioned my GM, Khaine amongst others. To be honest they are in the majority of other clerics I have met.

The poor image of smite clerics is caused by the actions of very few "bad" players, but then there are bad players of every class, it just seems ours gets noticed more.

What made you think you were the only one?

The classic smiters are rare now Ie the 48/23/9 template; still some of us adhere to it for now. I know me, Khaine and Delket use it, and probably a few more. Most have lower smite though, between 35 and 43

I'm a traditonal smite template with 48 / 23 / 9 as are a few clerics in the guild like Aevar / Vayasen. With the nerf i'm planning on going 22 enhance / 23 rejuv and 43 smite

I'd planned to be fully smite specced, but thankfully am only level 41 atm so might get chance to see how the 'nerf' works in practice - or at my curent levelling rate, perhaps I'll not see 50 until after the patch that undoes the nerf comes in in 2010...

OMG there nerfing Smite, i've had NOOOO idea that was happening. This is the sort of post i was taking about. WE ALL KNOW ITS GETTING NERFED. I think there nerfing stormcalling as well, Quick thanes don't spec stormcalling. And if they nerfed a scouts CS, would you tell them not to spec that as well. They may be nerfing it but use smite cleric will get over it, With all the adds to Smite we will have off items and RR bounes. Added to the Realm skill buff to Pie and DD damage (MAX 15%) making our total smite loss only 5%. Seeing as now Smite clerics will go to 43/44 smite and not 48 that gives us a load extra spec points. I'm looking forward to the nerf as it will make be better cleric.

Because I like my smite cleric as a 'character' (nasty rping type attitude, but what the hell... ), it wasn't nerfed until the next patch so I've been developing/playing him for ages, and unless you know more than the rest of us about Mythic's thinking there is no guarantee that in future it will stay nerfed... or maybe everyone else will be nerfed in turn until smite clerics become 'overpowered' again..

hmmm perhaps this thread should b called y smite is great (or sux as it seems). but then i think all classes have had a REALLY bad run in with a smite cleric, wot is it with u guys and the fear of healing in rvr? if u want a dmg doing class get a wizzy, people want clerics to heal plain and simple, not sacrifice the whole group 4 a few rps. Do the realm a favor and get a higher rejuv and learn to use it (no doubt ill get a nice reply to this, but hey who cares)

Said it before, will say it again until it gets through to folks.... the entire game is NOT just RVR, helping out folks in levelling in PvE is just as worthwhile to the realm as a whole, as is sharing items, knowledge and experience, and (I may be biased thinking this) my smite cleric has done pretty well at those...

I am not much use in a group, partly through 'bad' spec choices and partly through lack of practice in grouping - but since I tend to prefer soloing (with Aurelius anyway, other characters are going to be different) smite was certainly the way to go, and even after the 'nerf' is probably what I'll stick to.

The last thing we clerics need is for the self righteous tanks of Albion to moan about healing; if you want heals, grp with a rejuver; if you want basic buffs and damage potential, grp with a smiter. Noone forces you to group with smiters, so I have a hard time sympathizing.

"People want clerics to heal", what a joke. Tell you what, I want shield specced tanks for PvE, but no everyone wants to use a pole. I want all theurgs to have a 6 sec PBT, but they don't. Starting to get it?

Cool - arguments!!

My Cleric is heal specced but people take it for granted that you will heal them in time, everytime. When you dont they get angry. Now, sometimes its fair enough to be angry when you die slowly with a cleric in the group who has full POW because he went AFK without saying, but you shouldnt blast us if we heal like crazy and lose a paper-armoured mage in the process.

Try going RvR where noone wants you in group (less RPs for them) and yet all expect a heal, its no fun then. I spent 1 hour and got no realm points once, just lots of shouting for heals.

I dont mind sitting to the rear and buffing/healing, just as long as I am getting some of the RPs aswell!!

I think it was more your inability to use capital letters or punctuate that was the problem. Apparently something us old folks learned and remembered, but you children were too busy to notice and too idle to bother with

As for 'we want our clerics to follow the group nowadays' well I'm sure that is what you want, and if you want it that badly either ask existing clerics politely or make your own and do it yourself - but don't tell anyone else how to play their characters unless you want to look like a loud-mouthed arrogant jerk - and before anyone comments, no I've NOT called Tieris anything, just pointed out that is how such 'advice' often comes across.

i remember being in Emain asking for a group and being ignored by every one, but they soon wanted to chat when they wanted a rez. Ok you all keep going on about cleric needing to heal more, well you want us to heal you, and we want the protection of a group. From now on i will not heal, buff or rez unless i am in a group. That doens't mean i will only rez/heal people in my group, i just won't risk ressing when not in a group as i need a groups protection to recover the power i lose. You want a rez and i want a group, it not too much to ask is it?

I think you will find that not alot of people use the proper punctuation in these forums, not because they dont know how, but because they cant be arsed and find it faster not to. Another thing you should have picked up on old timer, or does your common sense and the ability to reason slip away when you reach 40+ years of age? Nala - I think Tieris is just teasing back, rather than really being sarcastic - I'm not being nasty to Tieris, Tieris isn't being nasty to me (I hope anyway!), just mildly winding each other up a little.

Anyway, one of my points was proved right - my suggestion that young folks were "too idle to bother with" punctuation seems borne out by the "because they cant be arsed ...." reasoning .
