Am I gonna regret this?

Since BarrysWorld closed and I opened the FreddysHouse forums there has been several excursions between the "forum generalites", the "DAOCers" and da mods.

Many of you would have known that I spent many an hour and late night talking to all manner of people in an attempt to solve this petty bollox. I feel that I succeeded in certain areas but not all.

The mods of these forums take a huge amount of shit from people who use these forums, that pisses me right off. In real life, yes you know, outdoors, would you talk to these people face to face? I would hazard a guess that you wouldn't. So don't do it on here.

Anyway I am rambling. I am a reasonable person and a certain member of the E.OT forum PM'ed me with a suggestion. I carefully read it and decided I wanted to implement it having first ran it past the mods of these forums.

At first they were skeptical, quite deservedly so, but I am convinced I can make this work. The plan is to make Adari a moderator of this forum only, he will be carefully monitored, and the moderators have the final say. This means that he can do, within reason of course, what he needs to do to maintain some form of sensibility here but the senior mods have the option to change any of his decisions - no questions asked.

Who knows, if this works it could be expanded to other sections of the forums and god forbid it may actually bring a little more sanity and peace to this turbelent section.

I will leave this thread open so you may discuss, do it rationally, anyone found to be abusive or just plain stupid in this thread will win a 2 week ban courtesy of me or the mods

Umm...first off, why in the name of God choose Adari? You might as well unban Loxleyhood and use him because they both have the same level of maturity.

Why not ask someone who is capable of making sensible choices? Adari is an arrogant ego-maniac troll and is certainly the last person I would even dream of having moderate the forum.

I can think of a number of people who would be better suited for the job: Yaraur (sp?) for one would be an ideal choice because he has his head screwed on straight-ish and doesn't flame people incessantly (although Adari has mysteriously cut down on his flaming over the last day or so...wonder why?).

In principle this is a good idea but I am totally amazed at your choice of mod to be honest. This isn't a case of jealousy or wounded pride because I personally wouldn't touch the job with a 50ft barge pole.

Same, eOT is a community of friends (more or less) and to have to be the one to stop and tell the others to grow up would be bloody scary...

I wanted to use Adari for the job as he is a troublesome user. If he can behave then surely there is hope for the others?

He may not, but I would rather I gave someone a chance to prove themselves right, I know I would like to be given a chance if it was me in this position.

Like I said in the first post, if this works we could potentially have many moderators at a sub-forum level and just allow the senior moderators to oversee the operation, ooh sounds quite professional

Well i had the same idea (little different from it) also a while ago.

I mean, it's so damn easy to critisize others all the time when you haven't tried it yourself. That's the most important reason i applied for beeing a mod in the first place. I used to critisize moderators too (not baiting though, just tell how i felt and stuff) so when they needed a new mod i applied.

So far we haven't heard any other good suggestions on how we can make this forums nice and readable for everyone so why not give this a try? If anyone should know how to moderate the forums in terms of reason it must be yourselves

Well well what can I say, I'm having trouble saying what's on my mind, can't really explain it, but I'll try.

Let's just say eOT is some sort of community. We supposedly all like eachother, hence we talk to eachother on here and my chan on qnet. I just thought it would be better to have a mod that is actually part of this community. I don't think it'll be hard for any of you to endure me and my decisions, based on the fact I talk to most of you daily. Even though some of you say it isn't possible, this is my final attempt to bring back the eOT we had on BW. With much less hatred and bullshit than we have on here, BW was actually a fun board with far stricter moderators, in my opinion, than we have now (Brinx <3 :d). I don't see why we shouldn't give it a try.

Anyway, I forwarded the idea to Deebs and obviously he talked about it with the mods. I am very grateful to be given this opportunity.

here is my suggestion: Put a poll up for a week with a list of 5 or so people who you think use E.0T enough and could do the job, then let people vote! Picking Adari because he is a troublesome E.OT uses seems very much like a reason for any of us to become OT mods tbh, i think we have all run into an issue at 1 point or another. and Adari didnt take his pills lets face it.
