SO far it looks impressive. You are left alone to roam and mine were you feel. Any tips from you guys that know this game inside out would be a great help.
Ive been playing over a month now and its very interesting
starting out id say :-
1. Do all the tutorial missions
2. Get out of the starting ship asap
3. Buy all the learning skills and train them up first, this will make all the other skills train faster
4. sometimes the corp your in may do a group mining session, get into these as you could earn up to 1 million after one night
Aye, you'll probably need to get into a good corp to get into lab/factory stuff.
And if you want to play it longterm you will *need* a good corp, as the whole thing is about socialisation and the interaction between players. Much easier to be doing something interesting that way with a few people to back you up.
Note, I'm not playing it any more precisely because I don't get on well with that aspect of the game. This is also why I can't recall the exact order to do the learning skills in . Whichever is the skill that raises the attribute is primary on them (int or mem), then the other one, THEN the actual Learning skill, then the others.
To much to type tbh. Im still absolutelt amazed at the depth of this game. All i want to do is play eve. Work goes so slooooow. I would say it is definately worth tryin on the 3 day trial. If you would like a trial let me know your email and will get you the trial using the buddy system.
Comabt = awesome
Storyline. Agent missions, pirate hunting, Mining missions, Or free roam and be a pirate , thats the great thiung about eve. You can do whatever you feel like.
Been playing this gem since December. After 1 month, I got a second account, and made myself a little "bad guy". PvP it's absolutely great, pumping blood into your heart... the rush you get is better than in any other game. I'm not into research or production either... I'm using my first account to mine with, providing cash for me liddul pirate. Thing is, as someone already said, you absolutely NEED a good corporation.
There's this term the vets are using, "Carebears". Carebears are, in their vision, people that take the game lightly, choosing to avoid the PvP aspect, or ignore it. Basicly, dedicated miner and/or research/manufacturing corporations are called Carebear Corps. If you gonna play EvE for the PvP aspect, like I do, you want to avoid joining a Carebear Corp. They will have you mine for them, providing you with the tools for it (ie, ship and EQ) for "free". Not all carebear corps are like that, but most of them are.
My own rat started in a pirate corp, that dismantled after 2 months, because there were too many wars issued on us. I ended up in another corp with the guy that recruited me, and we're keeping it small, as rat corps should be. If you get big, you need your own claimed space, you need to get into game politics, make contacts with the powerful alliances or join one, etc... We're more hit, scavenge, run type of a corp, but we too have some contacts in a quite large pirate alliance, because we can't exist without that.
Economy is pretty much player driven, if you're willing to travel and you keep your eyes on the market and have "some" contacts, you can get stuff cheap, and make a buck out of speculating the demand in a certain area. If you need a ship under the market price, just find some friendly manufacturer that has the bp for it (blueprint) and supply him with the minerals needed to build one... It's that simple. Or you could supply him the bp too, you can find one run bpcs (blueprint copy) on the trade channel. The game pretty much revolves around having contacts and maintaining them, being in the right place at the right time, watching your back carefully, and well... doing politics. You can betray, plot or be plotted against, wage war or suffer from it... It's all there, people make the game, not the other way around.
We all know what a pirate is. Let me explain how this applies in EvE.
First of all, more and more people are joining EvE, as we speak. A vast percentage of these people choose to go "bad" and organize their skills in the purpose of becoming pirates. But what does Pirating mean in EvE ?
Well, the most common doing of a pirate is to extort money from undefended miners, or from people that just happen to be in the right place, at the wrong time . You get locked, engines jammed, shot a few times, to make it clear to you that they will destroy your ship, or even kill you, if you don't comply with their rules. Then he contacts you, either on the local channel, or with a private convo (conversation), asking for his toll. If you like your ship, or you have valuable cargo, or simply dont wish to make a getaway in your capsule, or worse, die... PAY HIM. He will let you go, as soon as the payment is confirmed. Sometimes, it may not be worthwile to pay the amount he is asking... it all depends on you and on him being reasonable (not a big amount) in his request. This is where you separate Pirates from Griefers. A Griefer will wait for you to pay or destroy you with no questions asked, then BAM ! blow you up and try to kill you too. Fortunately, these guys are quite rare. Piece of advice, if you don't want this sort of thing happening to you, stay out of 0.6 > systems. Then again, you can't make real cash above 0.6, so it's a tricky one
The opposite of a Pirate would be this righteous person, that hunts pirates for their bounty. This would have to be a "rich" person ingame, well equiped, with a powerful pack of skills behind him, willing to spend time and effort to look for a pirate, hunt him down, and kill him. Ok, now freeze the image, pick up a sponge, and wipe the image clean. It's never going to happen.
Pirates don't just sit there waiting for this guy to collect on him. Pirates usually have good corps, friends, and walk around areas packed with "dangerous" people. They will gang the unfortunate shining armor fool and "zerg" him in a blink of an eye.
Bounty Hunters in EvE ? Such a dream. Mercenary corps on the other hand...
These are fierce people, which are somewhat against piracy, although this is not a rule. For the right price, they will hunt down the person you want. They are on the middle line, neither outlaws, nor lawful. Don't mess with them, they're many, and good.
Many things left uncovered, but my food is getting cold... I'd be happy to answer your questions and share my own experience with you guys. Hope it helped.
Well what can i say. As you can see its 2 in the morning and i have just logged out of eve.
I have just read the above and i want to log back in Great explanations of the way eve can be played more than i thought of anyways.
Thanks for the comments / ideas and tips i greatly appreciate it.
....
Just 1 thing the reason why i love this game so much is because of the players. Tonight i go ttaken out by a navy cruiser for being naughty. So i went to get my cargo back and some guy took my cargo. I know nowt wrong there its ree game. Anyways 10 min later i get a private convo box popup. Its the bloke who got my stuff. Never meet him or seen him b4. He said was you in the merlin b4 i said yeh , he said i believe this is your stuff and gave it me back said bye and left
What a guy.
Love this game through and through i recommend it to you all.
playing the 10 day trial now, and so far it seems rather amusing, if somewhat overwhelming...the PVP aspect seems like a load of fun too...might even have to try that, even tho I generally shy away from it
got stuck in with making an Amarr (the nazi of eve), would have made a Gallente if I know what I know now but.... oh well I guess I can always train to use their ships if my urge gets too strong ^^
I got in a realy realy tiny corp, got asked from another guy to join his big PvP corp, but figgured Im better off hanging out with this small corp for a while while I train and do some missions.
I played from April to July last year and cancelled my subscribtion out of boredom. I really thought bad about the game at that time.
Then last christmas I got an offer on reactivating my account in 10 days for free and I tried it out. I started with a new char with a different scope than the old and it was great. I've been playing since with both chars and things are only getting better and better. With the increased influx of players the galaxy is really starting to feel alive. The Science and Trade Institute is getting alot of new players every day. The cash flow has improved greatly so everybody should be able to afford what they want (sooner or later). Especially the economical side of EVE is what is keeping me going, and as none of the other MMORPG's I've been looking at can match that aspect I think I'll be sticking with EVE for a long time still.
