Aliens Vs Predators Dedicated servers?

I for one was deeply disapointed at the exclusion of a dedicated server. I originaly bought the game mainly for multiplayer rather than the single player mode and I'm sorry but MPlayer just dosn't hack it as far as getting a decent game going. IMHO Fox made a large error in not releasing a dedicated server and I feel that the game will not reach anything like it's potential popularity without one.

So tells us, and tell "them". Is this something you'd have like to have seen in the original release?
Or are we a bunch of saddo's with no grip on our communities needs?
Fox are "thinking" about it in a future patch, tell 'em what you want!!

wooohoo
i think AvP kicks ass, scares ya shitless.
I have done it modem to modem ( NOT useing them shitty modem to modem stuff in the multiplayer tab, but useing dial up server config in windows, and doing it all that way, lot faster ad can do irc chat as well. ).
yeah its really quite good, and the other player been the alien or pred and you been marine really scares you, and i ove the destructable lights.
Yeah a dedicated server would really make the game a big hit with player on the net, it would be as big as tribes if not bigger.
anyways back off to installing wankers 98 oh windows 98, sorry.
piece of crap that it is.

Not having a dedicated server ruined the whole Aliens v Predator game for me. I wasn't expecting much after "experiencing" peer-to-peer "fun" with Jedi Knight but I was expecting some half decent games. The trouble is 2 or 3 players just doesn't do the game justice. Imagine playing a dozen marines versus 20 or so aliens - that would be fun but requires a dedicated server.

Come on Fox - gives us a dedicated server! Please!

Well, I havent played AvP but I fail to understand how any game company that wants to make an impact in online gaming can fail to release a dedicated server. Obviously some of these people live in their own alternate realities.

I agree, its a great game, great atmosphere and it would make a great team game, but I don't have time to set up a game everytime I fancy playing it. I want to just be able to hop on when I like and i think thats possibly the majority of players. The game itself doesn't lack appeal, its got the feel of the films which is hard to capture, but its going to waste away on my hard drive without a dedicated server.

AvP is the perfect game for teamplay, doing that peer to peer is just not that easy. After E-mailing Fox several times about a dedicated server option, getting a response of "none planned" each time, I'm glad to see that others share my fight. Lets just hope Fox take note and make sure the dedicated server option is availabe in the next patch.

PARTITION
NOW
IT WILL WORK
If BW were to set up a little partition page and sent it off, it would make an impact.
