Did anybody catch the interview with Ali G on the Sarah Cox show this morning. Was very funny, you could practically hear them cringing in the background.
I'm sure you could probably download it from the radio 1 website.

It wasn't his humour that was funny, it was the fact that he was talking about weed, jizz, punnani and then said fucker live on air at about 9.30 in the morning meaning Sarah Cox had to read out an apology.

it's a waste of time posting anything other than banal 'fluffles' ignus, the amount of trolling here is horrendous.

FS, what did they think would happen? That's like inviting Nirvana to play on Wogan (iirc it was Wogan anyway) and then be surprised when they play Territorial Pissings instead of their listed track.

Ali G is a character though, played by an actor they weren't expecting him to play the character as normal. The fact that he did what he did knowing that there would be children listening shows that he's a disrespectful twat.
I can have a bit of a foul mouth on me when I'm on one, but I always make an effort to hold it back when there's kids around.

The fact is Ali G is rude, his use of the 'offensive' words is part of his act. If the BBC were foolish enough to get someone in who typically swears and have him live on air at 9:30am they deserve everything they got.

Its like that bloke they had on TFI Friday, who was known to always swear, they even joked in the beginning about. It ended with TFI Friday being banned from going live.

I am pretty sure that the BBC wont have that for download

He obviously did it for publicity.

I don't know why they did not cut the words out - most radio stations use a 10-20 second delay on thier transmissions, then make up the delay with a computer based system that takes the gaps out of a speach afterwards.

He went on to describe Pop Idol contestant Gareth Gates as "spasticated", and called the TV show's winner Will Young a "batty boy".
It may be wrong-diddly-wrong-wrong but that made me laugh. :D

Skyler's right about the effect on kids, but the act is still funny, no matter what anyone says. No doubt mp3s of the interview will be lurking around before long... :p

And I never get all the "effect on children" bollocks; I learnt words like 'shit', at the age of six, 'fuck' at about seven, and 'cunt' at nine, and that was later than most of my friends . That kind of language is totally inevitable with the Ali G character, and Radio1 should have obviously made it absolutely clear; moreso than usual - the idiots. They were stupid enough to let him on at 9.30am anyway, imho.
I side with Sacha here; it's his consistency which makes Ali G such an entertaining character :p

They should have stuck him with Tim Westwood, pair of twats would have got on like a house on fire.
They interviewed a member of slipknot the other day and he could tone down his launguage, even that fucking weirdo manson can tone it down when he has too.

Fucks sake... Ali G isn't real! I know you already know it but consider it for a bit. Would SBC swear like that on air if they were specifically interviewing him and not his character? No. It's an ACT. Publicity stunt maybe, but it's still within an act, that is typically aimed at a mature audience. Radio1 could have easliy made it clear they wanted to interview Sacha under his own name, if they wanted a constructive interview without the infamous Ali G style comedy (ie. vulgarity).

Actually as it says in the newspage, they have to read strict guidelines as to what they can and can't say, I would imagine that Sacha read this and agreed, but then proved how much of a twat he is by ignoring it. Yes Ali G is just a character, but a character played by a real man who should have known better. There are people out there who can be worse than him eg. eminem, blink 182, Jim Davidson, Chubby Brown, but they all realise that they have to restrict themselves. Just coz Sacha was playing a character didn't make him a different person, if he believes he is a different person when he plays Ali G then he's a nutcase.

But anyway, I thought it was all fecking funny, cheered my monday morning up.

How wrong is that? He did it for a reason, to increase publicity for his new record thing with Shaggy, its a pretty clever thing to do, i'd do the same.

The BBC had it coming and they fucking deserve it, bunch of trendy New Labourists that they are. Ali G if funny, pure and simple. As for kids listening, there is always the off switch and the BBC received 20 calls of complaint.

Out of how many listeners??

How there can be any uproar from parents is beyond me, the only people who should be around to hear such things at 9.30 are the unemployed / post-GCSE students, all the other 'kiddies' should have been at school half an hour previous.

lol, the bit i found funny was the 20 complaints, thats out of iirc 7 million listeners. and theres all this fuss over 20 complaints, what a joke. And also they should have expected it, there was no chance he was ever gonna go on and not swear, also, any of the kiddies listening to it hearing all the bad words at 9:30, prolly stay up and watch his late night show when its on so its nothing different.

I heard somewhere that people in the media multiply complaints by 1000. So if 20 people complained, that's another 19,980 people who took offence but didn't bother complaining. They most likely just won't listen to the show again.
