Does anyone know who how what where and when these "Skills" are about?

Spellcrafting is the only one with an ETA atm. And the ETA is "soon". It's supposed to be an expensive way to give weapons the stats you want them to have (like slash +2).

Alchemy might have to do with creating poisons by collecting things yourself.

Gemcutting for making jewelry maybe.... evocation, damn what did that word mean. I have totally forgotten... it was in some game if I remember right. *tries to remember*

Evocation would be something like 'calling forth' in magical terms. Dunno what kind of trade skill this would be.

The only thing I can think of for Evocation is to be able to add a proc to a weapon, which would be pretty good

1. Weapon crafted by Weaponcrafter
2. Bonus stats added by Spellcrafter
3. Proc added by Evocationist

Who needs drops :)

Would make a sweet weapon alright :D
I also think these specialists could earn themselves a few pence on the side if they become very skillful.

Well the magic school of evocation in D&D is basically things that make you go BOOM :) Call forth fireballs etc. So it's probably procs on weapons yer.

Awesome... that just clears it up most likely (hope it does). Can't wait to have procs on like every weapon, heeheee! Wonder if you could get procced bows :D

I seem to recall that there were going to be arrows of different types at some point, like fire arrows etc.

Hmm, I think there was something about the fact that some new abilities cause arrows to ahve some % chance of being magical, like fire for example... can't remember where I read this. Was it the realm abilities? Not sure.

I think you would use gemcutting to implement the spells you "crafted" with spellcrafting on a weapon by attaching a gem to it. Or maybe you store the magic in a gem made by gemcutting which is then attached to the weapon r armor. Heard something like that somewhere.

So, in essence, they're planned things for the future. I do like the sound of that.

Thankyou for all the replies people :D

PS

I'm currently a lvl 13.5 minstrel and I am looking for a Guild to call home - any recoomendations as to how to proceed?

Spellcrafting is the imminent one on that list.

Well iminent if you play on the US servers. Maybe somewhere between patch 1.51 and 1.55 I'd have thought.

So don't expect to see it on the European Servers before September, given GOA's inability to do anything right.

they should invent a sort of dye-crafter, so you can give the crafted weapons that cool look (like the ellyl swords for the albion players)

Hehe, adding some sort of enamels in the process of making the sword so the color can't be said to wear out you know :D
Would be sweet to be able to color weapons aswell, imagine like all the different colors you could wield, hehe.
About this gemcutting, it is going to either be inserting gems into weapons (some weapons that drop are gemmed, the name says it) or maybe you can craft some sort of jewelry or things to wear in the smaller equipment slots. I'd go for the weapon option, as to being the one it will be.

Please dont forget this is just a speculation. Mythic never stated what spellcrafting will be, hordes of desperate tradeskillers on IGN boards made it into legend about enchanting weapons/armor. It is still not known what ANY of these will be....

As far as I know at least, could be I missed such an importaing piece of info too :).
