Albion RvR

by now you all must be aware of the trouble Albion is in with RvR, because quite frankly we are pathetic. time and time again in emain and odins i watch us get trampled by mids and hibs, (even with superior numbers) and it has to stop

firstly: the internal quarreling needs to throw in the towel. sotl and others are getting flamed left and right and no-one is working together... every time im in a grp and we get wiped, i see someone being blamed... we get stomped on, then the fights start as to whos fault it was. not good. you die, nothing can stop that. and shouting at a teamm8, even if he/she made a mistake isnt going to get you anywhere. what you CAN do is learn, and come back to fight with more knowledge than previously.

secondly: tactics, or lack thereof. the moment we arrive in emain.. people start wondering off. not as a big army, but in little grps of 2s and 3s that the hibs and mids can kill with ease. u need to have the numbers. also, do not give up tactical posisions (e.g the milegates) to go off chasing mids/hibs back to their pk. its a recipe for slaughter. one person is bound to pull the gaurds accidently then its all over. stay at the milegates. it may seem boring, but the enemy gets bored too, then they come rushing though with no tactics and albs can pick them off no probs. and its a whole lot better than a death followed by a trip back to sauvage.

i hope this thread will do something to help albs in RvR, please take note. we have to get better.

edit: typo

I agree on what you are saying - we, albs, lack teamplay and above all dicipline (spelling?).

I don't think it's very wise to use Emain as an example of this though, as it is only sort of a battleground with no impact on the realms keep nor relic-status. Emain is for casual fun. If I go there to wack a few middies/hibbies on my own I will expect my fellow albionmates to understand this and not go all berserk when I wonder off by my self. In a relic- or keepraid I would not do this of course - those things demands teamplay and dicipline and people wandering off by themselves have neither.

Good points tho

Its been a long time since I was in RvR, about 2/3 months (dunno, I'm to lazy to count at the moment, garden work, auch:p) - but even then, we had a serious problem with people, the most common thing was when someone came running yelling "MIDGARD COMMING" (back then, hibibes were always lowbies) - even though we didn't knew the numbers, the instant that it was yelled, some people fled back to our PK, which demorals people of course, and often ended in 90% of the force running back to sit at our PK, and the last few of us, trying to make a stand, which of course, 99% of the time ending in us being slaughtered.
I don't understand why anyone would come to the frontiers, just to sit and look and waste time, or whenever they encounter enemies run, instead of fighting.

I've only one time been in Emain where random peole made a chat group, with the group leaders, so we had contact with each other, and we did stand good against our enemies, though it ended in us being overrun by a far greater force, but we agreed that we did stand good, and it was because of our cooperation.

But, the rules of porting to frontiers:
1. Don't run if the enemy is comming your way, it demorals people, instead, stand your ground and fight, thats why its called frontiers.
2. For heavens sake, DON'T SPAM!! - this can result in vital information being lost.
3. Use your character, if your a wizard then dont stand in front, let the tanks do that, etc.
4. Don't sit around your PK forever, waiting for larger numbers, instead try to organise something with whomever is with you.
5. Don't be a coward, if someone is in trouble, try to help, maybe they will be able to return the favor some time.

Teamwork/cooperation is the key word here.

Hehe - you reminded me of an incident a friend of mine had with the Albs - he was about level 30 skald with his mate level 30 zerker - both trolls tho - spotted a large group of purple con albs - insanely they charged them at Skald speed and the Albs ran!!!

If your in the frontier assume you will die and enjoy it :)

If you see an enemy attack him - groups of greens can take down purples!!! (oops shouldnt have told the Albs that bit :)

See you in the frontiers!

I totally agree we need to be less inpatient, mids camp or MGs for hours sometimes. Another problem is lack or range of classes; we need more sorceres and other disrupting classes. Remember Mids have very tough casters, and Thanes are one of there most effective with their large AOE nukes, plus being tanks they will be at the front line. The worst thing about being hit by a spell is that it disrupts you even if it only does 10hp damage.

Mezzes and roots are great but you cannot rely on one breaking them so you have to assume that it will always be broken within 5 secs.

Send off the pets and few ice or air bests against there caster to keep them busy (I know mids hate them, they've said so). This wills forcer their tanks and other caster to deal with them freeing everyone up for a short time.

When the battle is over don't run off leaving the clerics/caster alone while they rez n rest, there prime targets for any stealthers still left.

Personly the best RvR i've been a part of was with 7 other LOE- we did hit and run attacks against both mids and hibs- 7k in 1 hour was good for me :)

Ah, thats good, as am probilly going to gimp myself for PvE, but i don't care.

Am a bored to death of getting a class to stick with, ive decided to be a mind spec Sorcerer. Tho i only started him today, and one day hope to be usefull in RvR.

This is my first Prydwen/Alb char, and from my past experience.

albions do have a tactic, and its always being used:

run away/stay away from enemiesuntil you outnumber then 3 to 1.

you will see this when there are alot of people around.

Which, funnily enough, is precisely the tactic used by the US and British military, as developed by Montgomery in the western desert. I find it bizarre that Mids come here defending (rightly) their use of small-hours relic raids as legitimate because they're taking advantage of the system and using tactics. Yet those same Mids can't seem to appreciate that building up an overwhelming force in a safe area before an all-out assault is, err..., taking advantage of the system and using tactics. All these complaints amount to is a whinge from the Mids that the Albions don't run head first to an easy mezzed death at the first opportunity.

As a postscript, tonight the largest Mid army I've seen invade Albion yet arrived at Excalibur. Not only did all the Albion Guilds rally their troops incredibly fast, but a rapid and very determined series of charges, culminating in constant pressure on the Mid line, wiped out that force with surprisingly few casualties on the Albion side. Cowardice ? - no. Tactics ? - yes. Victory ? - absolutely.

Errmmm ... ordered spam... here it goes

Actually the tactics applied by the US military forces at the moment is ' achieving tactical superiority ', if they dont have that they dont engage in a fight.... frankly this only illustrates one last option that they get that 'tactical' advantage ,in my humble opinion, not through outnumbering or outpositioning but rather having a pure high tech advantage.... they use aviation heavily to supress the ground force for example, due to the fact that they havent had a conflict since second world war with a technologically superior opposing force, they get away with that quite nicely..... Back to the point though, DaoC is a game ... thus shouldnt be taken seriously well not too seriously... hopefully the comments from original post will change peoples behaviour. But at the end of the day this isnt an army so dont forget that noone... noone can tell you what to do and when to do it.... unless it seems the right thing to do at that particular moment. Thus if one decides to be a coward , although i might be a little biased here, fine if thats your style of play... but what about the main aspect of this game RP and RvR, you cant gain experience without dying <ingame> just as you dont learn from running away from the attackers whats the best way to fight your enemy < well , apart from the obvious tactic - safety in numbers errrmm.>, call it Combat training if you like.

ENJOY THE GAME FOLKS, BE COOL
