Well well well. What a fight.

I've been in and out of Midgard over the past few days, slowly eeking out a % or two at a time by soloing Glauthrong in Varulvheim. Then Twiz told me that Mia was getting married and Louise was the Priestess for the wedding. So I went back to Midgard at around 17H50 or so, re-dyed my armour, and raided my vault. Gave 95% of everything in my vault away, and then, after attending the joyous wedding headed to Spindelhalla to get that last 7% with Twiz's aid. With Twiz standing in attendance and me soloing everything I could find in the forgotten passages, I finally dinged on Yleg. (for sentimental purposes ;) ). Then, the call came. Albions at Grallar. Soooooo. What did I do? Logout and go play my Albion and join in the raid? No.

I get to Gna, train ASAP, and motor up to Vindsaul as fast as the damn red con horse could carry me. Make a vain attempt at getting passed all those infils coverring the gatekeepers, then /release, and join those wise enough to try hold AMG.

We waited, and waited. The albs attacked from the PK side and we pushed those back. Then the word came the albs from Grallar were coming, and OMF! It was like out of a movie, this spread out mass of Albs storming us. And the battle commenced. I hit, and was hit, was mezzed, and waited. Then hit and killed some albs, protected Twiz as much as I could. And I didn't die. Amazing, neither did Twiz...a warrior living through a conflict like that...

At the end, we thought we had succeeded, and when I saw the relic message, I misread it as saying that we had returned it to Grallar...and /victory a few times before I re-read it...

Honestly, I believe the albs outnumberred the Mids 2-1 at the AMG quite easily and the Mids did damn well to hold their ground when sandwiched between the two forces. I then spent the next 1.5 hours running around trying to find a fight and stand guard at Grallar for a while.

So, to all those that think I have devided loyalties... :m00:

I defend which realm I am playing as at the time of conflict. And as I told a young warrior, Glauthrong's gonna be back in force when Darkness Falls comes.

;)

Actually the whole thing took only like 10sec when we sandwiched you at amg :p

Amusing that you stood around for something like 30 mins still believing the relic didnt get thru ;)

Hmm,

Well we stormed the gate from both sides, got the message that the relic was safely away, then just suicide to go protect it on its way back to the keep........so the 2:1 battle, well it was just Albion keeping you occupied while we sorted out the next attack.

Shame I went to sleep just after this one, now we have both our relics back, and erm some hammer......

See you all next time, somewhere, sometime, anywhen

Um also that was only Boney's force from Gralla. Another force of ours got beaten up while sitting at Gralla and although some of us released and managed to port - say 30 of us - to hit the AMG from the PK side a lot didn't make it to the port or didn't port in time. All of this to get our relic carrier through the MG :)

A question I asked elsewhere - I've never seen someone carrying a relic, and would like to know if /effects none turns off the apparent "glow"?

And you know, I must say that Albion does have a distinct advantage that Albions pretty much all look the same. Armsmen/paladins are easy to see, but once to get to chainmail/studded/leather, it's not so easy to tell them apart since you're all mostly the same size.

Midgard has a REAL disadvantage as does Hibernia. Just my observation... :p

I didn't see a glow on the relic carrier, nor did I glow when I had merlin's staff in my backpack briefly... That was with /effects self set - not sure what it's supposed to look like to be honest.

Well, with a high end PC with a top end GF4, even I have to relog after a huge fight and leaving /effects all means lagging out of action. So all you minstrels and bards that complain about the notes of death, remember, in a big fight, most of the enemy are going to have /effects self or /effects none

;)

That's a little wierd Brannor...

I have a really hot machine and a 4600 ti Geforce 4 also, and experience next to no lag except for the four hour memory leak thing.

P4-1700
Asus P4S533 Mobo
PC2700 512MB
Asus Ti4600 GF4

That's the basics. And most times I can go for hours without any lag (it flies when I first login and for a while after that). But last night at the AMG, after being everywhere from Huginfell through half of the Mid frontier, etc. After the Albs stormed the AMG from both sides, I had to relog...just too much lag.

Oh, and before someone starts saying it's my connection, I'm on ADSL and my ping is generally <60, except for those nice bursts at night.

Can't comment for sure on PK numbers, I was with Boney's group, we had maybe 20 albs there. Was quite a fun fight, I got within about 50 hp of dying before a mez wore off on my group cleric and I got instaed :D
As mentioned though, the whole thing was to get the relic carrier through, they would have gone running through at mach 5 and with all the confusion I'm not surprised you missed them. :p

On the lag thing, I run an athlon 1100, 512MB and gf4 ti 4600 and it gets pretty sluggish in big battles. Effects all is a definite no-no with more than 30 people.

P4 2Ghz with 512 Mb ram, but only a GeForce 3 ti200 :(

Runs fine most of the time except for real heavy RvR (only 56k connection ... and please dont start telling me to get broadband - been there and got the t-shirt) and occasional overheating problems where I have to relog....

Certainly up to the task of seeing the relics safely home yesterday and multiple deaths in and around odins for one reason or another....

There were a few close calls all round yesterday... I won't go into too much details, but suffice to say it took a large degree of planning and a small portion of good fortune to pull it off, but I salute everyone who took part in a great weekend's fun.

Scariest moment? A mad unstealthed run from Grallahorn to the AMG once the relic was out, towing a few people to try to help the forces there... forget any 'along the map wall' routes - this was mayhem :)

Brannor - kudos to you for sticking in realm.

Well done albs! You've ruined my levelling this weekend!
Now, you have the relics - I can level in peace and then come along and be mezzed at your keeps when I'm ready for it instead :p

I'm pretty sure I was the one who spotted the relic raid force first. I logged in my main, who was logged at amg, in a tactical spot. As I did log in, I saw a pretty large force moving just outside of visual range eastward. At that time I saw maybe 30-40 albs. I of course shouted this observation over /as, and people reacted like it was perhaps a keep raid at the most. I suspected there were more people than 30, and that it in fact was a relic raid though. Well, two people were left behind at amg, so I attacked them, of course knowing I would die, so I could get back to Huginfell and run to Grallarhorn.
Well, I did get there in time, but almost as soon as I got there alb attacked. Hehe, what did I hear over /as? "This is MUCH more than 30 people". Of course it was, but at the time I logged in I could only see 30. ;)

Well, it was kind of fun, although we died and released some 4-5 times trying to batter down the alb forces at Gralla. And the fight at amg was even more fun. :) Gratz to you for getting your relic back. :)

Btw, I've got a P4 2Ghz, Gf 4 4400ti, and it lags pretty bad in large fights, ESPESCIALLY if i don't do /effects self. Those people that don't experience any lag with /effects all must have a 10Ghz machine, and a Gf 17 card. Too bad i don't have that too... ;)

Lets just say that the Albs had great planning on their side for that amg rush to get the relic through...was really great to see us all in action...oww and just to let you know...you almost did get the relic carrier as some caster seemed to have him/her targeted. I think it was simply getting out of "line of sight" that saved the day.

I think the carrier had about 20% hp's left once they made it to the Albion force on the otherside and out of spell range :D

Well I think it's ok that I didn't got those 250 arrows back wich I put into your casters but about relics... you are aware of the fact that they belong to us? You wouldn't have gotten them without Hibbies doing the dirty work for you. I guess Hibbies won't help you defending them will they?
Next time we meet I'll have 1000 arrows on me and not only 250!

Oh forgot something: I died 3 times and always by smiters. I have your names and we will become good friends soon. :D

Perhaps our deluded friend is referring to the fact the the hibs where attacking the power relic keep while we took the mid str relic but that had nothing to do with our power raid.

And my dear hib if you are referring to the first it is called tactics!
Not our bloody fault you never raided the other keep when we were raiding.

and if you arent referring to any of the episodes you should stop licking on the firbolgs

I was wondering that myself. Of course we will help our Alb brethren to defend their relics, there's no question about it! The secret clauses in memoranda of Alb-Hibernian Alliance outright demand us to.

Ahh. Yes. Then I remember you. Saw [Briton Gryphon Knight] and thought "Damn bug showing the guild names again..." :p

Yip. Remember hitting you. Pity I was 1-H/shield and the time. Was being shot at by archers so I couldn't introduce you to the my lovely assortment of 2-H axes. ;)

Brannor McThife hehe relog after that fight ?
all thru the fight i had 1 of the 3 dots yellow, was flashing green every now and then, got an AMD 1900 , gf2U gfx , 512 ram :).
--
hibs helped alb?
i think its more like hibs jumping in like we did when hibs took the str relic.
albs attacked power relic , failed after 2 gates down , on saturday ,on sunday we then attacked str relic , got 1 , then hibs attacked the power relic , and albs re attacked the str relic got a 2nd 1 , then later albs attacked the power again , so how did hib really help?

/cheer

there was about 30-35 alb mid side of amg following me, i thought there was 20 but some walked off , but soon came back :)
tho im sure we didnt outnumber u mids 2-1, we might have had more , but wasnt that many more, even more so when more mids got there.
