You get beta access with all aion pre-orders afaik, I didn't realise it was on steam but I paid £35 somewhere else for a direct download and I have been in the last 2 beta tests.
Anyone who is interested should get in quick as there is another beta weekend starting tommorow.
Once you install this via steam you need to setup an account via the NCSoft website (right click on Aion in steam and press Manage Account iirc).
After all this you install an NCSoft app that applies a 15mb patch. It will say Aion US. Do not worry, under File, Settings, Region it will allow you to choose Europe - England etc.
The Aion US and Aion EU client are the same. It's the region settings which tells the game which servers to load (EU or US).
Some advice to first timers as well:
- There is no tagging system on mobs; whoever does the most damage gets the loot.
- If the zone you are in is over-crowded and people keep stealing your mobs, then you can change channel in one of the options; each channel is a separate instance. These channels are only present up to the level 20 zones, and it isn't confirmed how many of them there will be on release. There are currently 10 channels.
I bought it off Steam and you get access to the beta when it's open. They seem to do stress/bug testing on weekends so its not always open which is a shame.
