Ahhhh! Cannot get into multiplayer HELP!!!

I can launch the game, even with the server details added to the program icon properties, however, I do not get a server list nor do I see my games on LAN (freelancer)
I got sygate firewall but have disabled it.

I have no trouble with Ghost recon nor Flashpoint.

It is so annoying, I loved privateer and elite, so this game answered all my dreams, but I just cannot connect to the multiplayer games.

Running a
NTL Broadband connection
Pentium 4 2.4ghz
1024mb ddr ram
3d blaster 4 Ti 4600 128mb ddrram on board
Windows XP
and all the up to date drivers

Can any one help please.
( I bet its something simple)

Are you trying to play it across a network?

Both the LAN network, online 'refresh servers' in game and the 'put the isp address after the launch icon'

Someone I know had an issue because they didn't have DirectX 9.0 installed. Apparently SP will work on 8 but MP needs 9.
