Setup:
ABit KG7
Athlon 1700
512 Mb Ram
MSI GF3 TI500

Guys,
For some bizarre reason I can't play ANY games. When I launch a HL engine game my PC "stops" when it gets to the loading screen, although I can get into the options/setup etc. When launching a Quake engined game it "stops" on the grey screen just before the options screen would appear.
Everything was fine yesterday am, I installed two things yesterday.
1: The new Real One Player.
2: My Philips web cam.

I've uninstalled the real player, and I'm about to uninstall the webcam. I'll get back if that solves it.

Any pearls of wisdom?

Thx

Ok I've uninstalled the webcam and still nothing. I forgot to mention this problem is occuring with both the 23.11 and 28.32 drivers.

Watch me shrug. Two pearls for you.

Realplayer is evil, and sounds like something has messed up your OpenGL drivers.

*cough*Reinstall*cough*

I'm a little slow posting that, at work...

Did you fully uninstall the drivers, back to VGA, then reinstall?

Aye, i'd think reinstallin either the Games or Graphic Drivers, because RealPlayer is one fecker for placin shite in your registry

Okily,
OS is 98SE, I did completely remove the card.
ie. removed hardware in device manager, and removed drivers, rebooted to vga, then reinstalled.
I'm not sure reinstalling the games will help, for example HL wont work in either GL or D3D mode.
This is really fooking me orf now :)
I'm going to remove the card again and reinstall the older 23.11 drivers.

Have you checked on their Forums for this *bug* ? Perhaps someone else has had the same problem.

Either try NVdia or MSI ?

Windows ME? People still use that?

I've only seen it preinstalled on shite Packard Bell/Advent/HP machines that people have gotten ripped off buying at PC World/Dixons/Currys

Hmm, i've used Millenium a few times, but always seemed to have gone back to Win98... so i may do a re install of 98

But i AGAIN sorted my CounterStrike problem... i put Direct X 8.0 back in :D

Also Jas, your on BTo also ya say, have you had any problems with your ADSL where your comp just freezes up all the time?

My Comp locks up about 2 times every hour IF im searchin the web

I had a similar problem with my AGP port and any game. HL would crash a couple of seconds into the loading screen as did Quake3.

This may sound weird, but it was solved by setting the AGP port to 1/1, and not 2/3 (the FSB was 100 MHz). Strictly speaking, 2/3 was the correct setting but it made every game hang. Setting the port to 1/1 made everything work. I had an itching feeling that although it said 1/1 in the BIOS, it was perhaps really 2/3. Who knows :) .

Dunno if this is any use to you

1/1 setting would mean you AGP clock speed would be 100Mhz....hmmm strange.

Exactly. Doesn't sound right at all, but oddly enough it worked.
