AGP 8x

My current Motherboard only supports AGP 4x. I was wanting to purchase a card for sale on Komplett.co.uk which uses the AGP 8x Interface. Am I correct in thinking these cards are NOT backward compatible and therefore will not work on my 8kha+ Epox motherboard which only supports 4x ?

Any help appreciated.

Hi Darac

AGP 8x cards are backwards compatible with motherboards which only support AGP 2x or 4x. Although, as Xavier tells me, some 2x boards are 3.3v rather than 1.5v, since your board supports 4x, there hopefully won't be any problems. If you're still in doubt, try contacting Komplett's sales team asking them this question, as many stores (such as OcUK) will give you pre-sales advice on what works with what.
