Advice on ML8 Group Encounters

Need a little friendly advice on ML8.4 and 8.9.

First 8.9. We killed self maintaining statues for over an hour, and did not receive credit, is it random, or should we be looking for a particular statue?

Second 8.4. We pulled the chief centaur with a BB out of the group, and kited the mobs after her, pulling the chief as he went by ( or back, not 100% sure, I was running away at the time with BB). We did manage to kill the chief once this way, but half the group died before he did, and did not get credit, then the rest were killed by the adds. Can this be done without getting the adds, or do we just need more people to deal with them ? We did not have a perfect fg, 2xsorc, pally, reaver,scout,mincer, merc and ML10 cleric, merc was same player as cleric so not used in combat.

We plan to try again on Saturday, ready for Eggy's raid on Monday, so any advice would be appreciated.

the statue is random and 8.4 you always get adds

At the statues u should get the required piece in 30 min of pulling .. u all get a message when it drops .. i ve made the grp steps 3 times and each time was the same.. and at the Chief centaur .. get 2 clerics in grp a pala at least and u should be ok .. dont interact with some player out of ur grp .. cause its a grp encounter and the credit might not be given .. pul the centaur .. tanks taunt all ads pala will get agro etc.. kill adds 1st when u get there. not the ones that are near the Chief.. the roaming mobs around there. ..
