Advice for brand new Ench please.

Hi all,

I've rolled up a luri ench to level 6. As I'm way behind the curve I figure my best plan would be to level up as a PvE template and then re-spec to RvR/PvE hybrid as I get into the 40s.

Could any experienced ench's point me towards a decent Spec to go for? I'm figuring I'll end up as primarily mana once I RvR, but ahead of that I'm not as sure. I want to level fast to catch up with the average level of player.

Thanks,
Sskek.

why not make another character thats interesting like a warden or something that involves more than having one button on your quickbar? :p

naw if u want to join the hode check out mypetmage.com and daoc.catacombs.com for their char builder

full mana til u hit 40, then decide

40-50 is MUCH easier as mana spec but you won't be able to respec at 50 (unless we kill the Dragon and u get lucky).

put your extra points from 40 onwards into enchantments for the damage add buff and to make your pet a bit more powerful. If you want to go for full mana spec in RvR then your minimum is 48 for the last PBAoE, but the 50 snare is worth going for imo too.

I'd suggest going 50 mana / rest enchantments. Light spec is very powerful in RvR and also solo, however it's much harder to get groups with and to level with. If you don't mind the "struggle" to 50 with light, I think you'd have more fun in RvR, but it's harder than a mana spec.

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm going Ench for speed. Once I get to the high 40s I'll be twinking a melee and a healer. But I really want to get to the higher levels PDQ.

Well, I've soloed my Enchanter to 34 no probs, with 50/50 ench/light.
No use to a group though, too many resists on purp mobs, if your not fighting purp mobs you're wasting your time, even if there's just 2 of you.
Speed is base line by the way.
From what I've seen, Mana is the fastest, but most risky. Just pull few yellows let pet hit them for a bit then run in and AOE them, the xp must be amazing.

I have a lvl 50 chanter myself and my advice to u is spec a little bit enchantments too because then u can solo your levels nicely with your pet and when u also spec mana u will be very usefull in a group too.

When u get lvl 40 u can respec your char and deceide by then if u wanna be a mana kamikaze chanter who likes to run into a group of enemies and PBAOE or if u like to be less vulnerable and cast amazing dmg on enemies from a distance.

I am mana/enchantments myself cause i also like to solo with my pet. For me light gives no extra but that's only because i have tried. Like oblivion_6 said... daoc.catacombs has an excellent char builder which is very usefull so check it out.

Try mana for the fastest route up , you wont get turned down in groups , when you hit high levels , decide if you want to go light . Personally went 48 mana for last aoe / 22 light (ups base dam) and the rest 11 iirc into enchantments which gets you the second dam buff which if anything else is decent enough to cast on lowbies , with the dam add being nerfed now , tis still good for lower levels . Anyway been a while since I played my chanter , hope those numbers are right . I just log now and then to buff people in MM . Take care :p

main-line

It depends fully if you want to solo or if you want to group. For soloing, light is way superiour, for groups mana is. I have had 8 enchanters and tried the most, only one i have bothered to level 50 is point, who atm have 45light 26 mana and 14 enchantment, which was no problem leveling with at all, so dont listen to the rumors =)

I soloed more or less level 9-44 though, so if your a group animal, mana would prolly be your shot for pve. (Damn lot of useless tanks level 6-30 :p) The pbaoe is about the most boring thing to level at all really (1...1...1..1.11..1.1.1...1.1.1...1.1.1 mcl ...1...1...1...1) I find pbaoe in teams so darn boring soloing actually became fun ;)

As long as there is trees, its no slower soloing with light then its in a perfect working group really. And for a list of trees...blackthors/irewood saplings/young irewood/irewood/grovewood and then greenbarks....you can solo this game :D When you pass 44, if you do not have 26 in mana (which i strongly, strongly STRONGLY suggest you have, for fins groups (but pretty many is rather bored of those :), you can solo some yellow-to-50 trees in albion, and get all the way to 50 solo (i was in fins groups while i leveled another char on another comp instead...we checked as well and my friend who had played daoc just a single time before did just as well as me when it came to pbaoe in the fins group....

mana = skill ;P

In rvr, both mana and light is fearfull, light is better to get rid of single targets (therefor also superiour in solo pvp and now duels) and in teams in general when your mess does not hit first. Mana have STRONG effects in keeps, both defending and taking, so if mainstream zerging which end in keep raids is your thing, then mana is your way to go :D

1 little phrase, PBAOE.

Groups want it, u got it, y not use it.

(Personally i once made a light chanter who kicked ass, but when i grouped all i got asked was "When are you gonna Pboe?", philisteins!!!!!)

Go mana for pve. :)
Pbaoe'ing all day might be boring but it's the fastest way to 50.

for PvE go mana til 40 then respec to full light for RvR though it will be much harder to find grps as light.
