Been a few threads recently about Adverts and how crap they are becoming and which one is the most annoying.

On a positive note i have to say the new PlayStation2 adverts are fantastic. So random yet complete genius.

I have to agree with that. Especially like the ventriloquists hunting atheletes one. Much easier to understand than that 3rd place shite too.

The burger king ones are quite funny. :D I haven't seen the ps2 ones but the ps2 ones they have during champions league footy are quite annoying.

Slightly off topic, but I really HATE those internet adverts that make noise when you move your mouse over them. Nothing like having a loud "MOOOOOO" blaring at you through your PC speakers when you were quietly reading a newspaper, just because you accidentally moved your pointer over an advert for "Cow-Cow HappyMilk"... Annoying! :twak:

I hate those popup ads that don't popup in a new browser window, but in some kind of hidden javascript layer that dances about the screen and wont FO. There are flash ones that do the same :(

Tivo players are able to fast forward the adverts. However some company were worried about adverts not being noticed, so they decided when someone was fast forwarding the adverts to stick a popup on the screen with some advertising.

You not heard about the bill trying to go through the Senate in the US? It will outlaw any device that skips adverts :/

As for the Tivo thing thats due to Tivo being in financial trouble.

Where can I get a TiVo from??

I'm indifferent to the PS2 adverts. I find them a bit silly though. It doesnt make me want to rush out and buy one.

Ebay for Tivo's... they stoped selling them in the UK officially end of the 90's, the only ones you can get now are the ones that still work. Few people specialise in reconditioning etc, believe most of them list on Ebay or they did last time i was looking at getting a TiVo.

Been thinking about getting one its just the fact that they are used and no guarantee thats been putting me off.

Yes you can, there's an open source project called MythTV that does exactly that. Pain to get it set up though (probably).

I gave up on the idea of making my own Tivo because it would have ended up costing more.
