When ADSL finally gets to us will it be worth us having to fork out for the installation costs? 149.00 thats a bit steep innit!
i mean im on Surf unlimted at the moment which is piss poor to say the least (by the way has anyone else had bad connections with it lately?) so what's to be done and will it kick off...if it does will it become cheaper?
ohhh what a dilema.. :D

ADSL has descended into farce frankley. I'm not even sure if games will be allowed on it.

Not that it matters as i've now gone ISDN, and the october/november release date for ADSL, IMO, will not be met.

I'm on modem, I'll get isdn at end of year and ignore adsl.

Stable low game pings are more important to me than bandwith.

ISDN price might even go down once ADSL comes out.

Blueyonder rules, especially now it's only £33 per month. Certainly better than ISDN, pings lower, no packet loss. Install is only £50 aswell.

Surf Unlimited was knackered last week due to a dodgy router. It's now been fixed, and it's back to its old self (ie the best modem ISP I've ever used).

DSL will be a complete and utter waste of time. Demon have had nothing but trouble with their trialling of it.

If you're looking to upgrade now, just get ISDN (or Blueyonder if you're in an upgraded TW area). cyberpimp you should not be "thinking" about Blueyonder. Get it. Now. You don't need anything particularly special, n/w card wise.

Telewest coming round on 30th to install blue yonder, yippee, i can't wait to kick some lpb ass at last, personally couldn't see the point of goin the isdn route (why give bt anymore money) when i can have lower pings and way faster downloads for less money(not to mention a constant connection to the net).
One thing to consider tho' rumour has it telewest are gonna offer a 1mb/s connection for 50 quid a month.
absolutely fannytastic!

Cable will be better for gaming IMO, and in all probability, Cable will come to your area first. I wouldn't be surprised if BT delibratly tries to make ADSL crappy for games on all account types rather than some initially.

Alex: See www.bt.com/homehighway/ - bastically you can either have a cheaper installation (£50-100), or a low/no call allowance. I don't think having a large call allowance actually saves any money in terms of operating costs.

Don't order your ISDN directly through BT though, use one of their resellers as you'll get a better deal. For example, if you order it through Solwise you'll get £40 back (enough to buy an Asus TA).
