That gives a standard modem the same d/l speed as my cable connection!!!! People who don't do their research properly, what a laugh.

Really begs the question why did any of us change from modem, if it were true :)

As far as I can see, BT uses the same tactics as our phone company PT (in Portugal, monopoly is still running the show :()

Ain't this called propaganda? :)

I think the main problem is that that is displaying Kb/sec (as in Kilobits), whereas we're all more used to seeing KB/sec (ie Kilobytes). It doesn't help that most people use Kb to mean Kilobytes nowadays either.

Actually stu, the muppets who put up the website have got it the wrong way round and are displaying kilobytes rather than kilobits, which is why the ADSL demo downloads 1MegaByte in 2 seconds. Should we all order the service and then complain when it doesn't deliver? That's assuming you even get an installation date!

At the end of the day, its from BT and we all know BT are cunts. I certainally wont be paying them 40 quid a month for trash with blocked ports.

Trust me, as a sadistic lpb on an NTL Cablemodem, the kills are far more frequently and enjoyable at 1.5mbps

Errrrr you get 1.5 MBit on NTL Cable Moden?
Thats quite strange, seeing as its capped at 512k down and 128k up...

Someone can't read...

the minimum guaranteed connection speed is 512kbps...

hence this:

1250.jpg

either you don't have a cablemodem and are just going on what you read... or if you do then you live in a very busy area for ntlworld.

I don't have to worry about it dropping either, my home is in the CF24 area, one node hop from the main NTL pipe... (NTL's head office is about 3 minutes from my home)... everytime the amount of users increases I don't see my bandwidth dropping... but instead becoming more stable because cf24 is an important area for them, so they just chuck more and more bw at it :)

ooh, pretty soon. Dunno why I'm bothered tbh, left uni. When I was there SJIII seemed to be pretty capable, but in the last year it seems to have turned to mush.

SJIII is still rocking here. When we getting it in scotland? Or do we have to put up with the MAN's up here?

Hmm, yea, the chances of me telling you that are as good as the chances of you actually treating these forums and their members with the respect and decency deserved.

NTL cable modem

Xavier, what NTL number did you phone to get your cable modem? I live in Cardiff and have been phoning for ages to try and get one. They either don't pick up or if they do, they transfer me and I just get passed around the houses.

Cheers

Lucrezia
