ADSL Hell !

I've just come back from a mates house after trying to install BTOpenworld ADSL. I've been trying to install one of those Alcatel Speedtouch (butt-ugly) USB jobbies onto a Windows 2000 machine, patched to SP3. When I installed the software, it got to the bit 'Installing Speedtouch Networking Support', but couldn't find the driver on the BT CD ROM. Subsequently, the fecker don't install properly, and appears in the Device Manager as an unknown device. The weird bit is, I installed it onto a Windows 98 laptop with no problems at all, so its not a hardware problem. I've checked the USB ports for power usage, etc, and all is well. I've come to a dead-end :( (downgrading to Windows 98 on the desktop is not an option).

Anyone had this problem/know of the solution ?

Cheers SG - I got the 1.4 drivers from the Alcatel site - will these do the trick ? (My mate says he doesn't have the Alcatel Speedtouch Driver CD - dunno why).

you have to install the drivers before you plug the modem in or it b0rks the install and it wont connect.
