Action Half Life

I've just got around to downloading the full beta 5.5 version of AHL. When I'm playing the game the use of the weapons and use button disappears at random times; often when I load a saved game. Sometimes I can fire my pistol in a corridor but when I move to a new loaded section I can't. Does anyone know how to fix this or is it only worth playing AHL on the net?

The single player in AHL is very bugged, and is not really recommended if you want to complete the whole game.

The MP is fine though.
