Accountancy Question - Feel free to leave smart arsed answers and jibes at Cdr

Do any of you other accountants out there have any decent links as to were I can get some info on the advantages of trading as a number of divisions under one company name as against trading under several companies ( hint tax advantages not an issue )

You know your answer was meant in sarcasm and not to help in any way.

Specialised information like that isnt available from google, and if it was it would be pretty hard to find. Ive been here long enough to know that there are a few accountants who frequent the General Forum and thats why I asked.

Actually, thats not totally true. I found a lot of specialised Law information from google. Infact it helped me as a source of information throughout my degree.

You could probably look at the Inland Revenue website, that might have some information about various tax issues - although I dont know the URL.

You would also not have to have multiple accounting ledgers and multiple bank accounts for each of the companies.

This would then be less admin work....as a result you dont have to do so many bank recons, and intercompany recons etc.

Thanks again Dys. I think this is more like the stuff I need as the group Im working on has a lot of unnecessary dormants and minor trading companies. Im really trying to compile a list of advantages they would have by going the single company route.
