Been updating windows XP through Auto updates

Ive downloaded a shit load of updates and next inline is Service pack 2

IT downloads and trys to install and at the end i get ACCESS DENIED all the time, yet my Windows xp product key is genuine

Sometimes Updater fucks up, u can try and, keeping the window who gives error, open another ie explorer and try to reapply updates.

access denied normally has nothing to do with it being a genuine install of windows.

- Certain viruses can read lock windows files to prevent windows updater from performing updates.
- After fixing any viruses use msconfig (type 'msconfig' from the cmd prompt or the run start menu option) to prevent any unknown or unnecesary programs and services from starting up.
- also ensure you are logged in on a user with admin rights. certain updates require admin access.

You can download service pack 2 as a regular download, rather than an update, try doing that, patching to sp2 then using auto updates again.

Like peope have said autoupdates does fook up, so grab this.

Make sure you are logged on to your pc with an admin account btw.
