Sometimes Updater fucks up, u can try and, keeping the window who gives error, open another ie explorer and try to reapply updates.
Also check if this apply:
access denied normally has nothing to do with it being a genuine install of windows.
- Certain viruses can read lock windows files to prevent windows updater from performing updates.
- After fixing any viruses use msconfig (type 'msconfig' from the cmd prompt or the run start menu option) to prevent any unknown or unnecesary programs and services from starting up.
- also ensure you are logged in on a user with admin rights. certain updates require admin access.
