I recently started playing Asherons Call 2 and it rocks, as all new games do. I can't really say too much about it as I've not really played it enough to form a fair opinion.
It's great so far, that's good enough for me.
One thing that has just stunned me is the customer support and it's made me draw some comparisons to DAoC.
It's becoming more and more apparant to me that DAoC is just a money making product of Mythic and GOA. It's just a game, it's just a business.
The impression I get is that neither company actually love their baby, neither company is in it for the game, just the cash.
Turbine (Asheron's Call 2 version of Mythic ) on the other hand have suprised me.
Now I'm far from niave, I know every company under the sun is in it for the cash. I don't doubt for one second Microsoft give a shit about Asheron's Call 2 as long as it brings them money.
The people behind Turbine give the impression they actually care about the game, looking on the boards is reason enough to see this.
They have their own boards constantly moderated by actual team members. Answers to questions are made within minutes on patch days, like today for example.
I want everybody to look here and tell me that's not good service.
Okay, they're having trouble with the patch and the servers but remember it's the very first retail patch and problems are bound to happen. Just look how they deal with the problems though.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right, I'm loving AC2 and the service atm though.
